Whilst everyone knows that our lovely game has no flaws at all, we HAVE suffered somewhat in the past from two perceptions: -- the game takes a damned long time to play -- you have to corner at least 3 other players to play it This immediately points to some need for a two-player version -- or at least, a "wouldn't it be nice if" need. So, a couple of us put our skulls together and came up with the following, in an effort to fill that gap. The best way to break anything is to let a whole bunch of people have at it with sticks. So go fetch your sticks. I'm sure there are some holes in it that we haven't seen. without further ado... ======================================================================== DOG POO: THE ETERNAL STRUGGLE* A 2-Player Variant for V:TES Committed by Derek Ray and Jeff Thompson all rights deserved RULES N' STUFF As normal V:TES in every respect, with the following changes: - Minimum library is 40 cards. There is no maximum. - Minimum crypt size is 3. Maximum is 6. - Starting pool is still 30; starting transfers progress as normal. - Transfers from uncontrolled minions to one's pool are forbidden. - Starting uncontrolled region contains 3 vampires, not 4. - Bleed actions may not be taken if your opponent controls ANY ready minions. - Any vampire may take a zero-stealth action to do a point of damage to any opposing minion. - Cards which explicitly force an opposing minion to take a specific action (or restrict them from taking any action) may not be played. Such cards would include Sensory Deprivation, Lunatic Eruption, Pentex Subversion... you get the idea. Derange and Total Insanity do not qualify. - Methuselahs may neither lose nor gain pool via action cards (including political actions) or action modifiers EXCEPT those that are put into play and used later (Pulse of the Canaille, Spying Mission). Note that superior Govern the Unaligned does NOT gain pool. - No more than one of any given combat card may be played in a single round. - Sending an opposing vampire to torpor OR burning an opposing minion gains the Edge. If, after combat, neither minion involved is ready, the Edge becomes uncontrolled. - The Edge no longer gains a pool on your untap. Instead, the Edge may be burned for any of the following three things: a] to give a reacting minion +1 intercept b] to untap a reacting minion c] for 1 vote during a referendum (including Blood Hunts) - The following cards are banned from play: Hostile Takeover Temptation of Greater Power Brainwash Memory's Fading Glimpse ... That's it! You are all cordially invited to test this out, enjoy it, and break it in many and varied ways. We consider it to be still under development, so very few of these rules are set in stone and may change as necessary to balance the game. Suggested places to start breaking: Minion Tap, 5th Tradition, Amaranth, Embrace/3rd Tradition, Smiling Jack. We welcome all suggestions, notifications of broken-ness, or other tidbits. Please send any of these via mail to lorimer@yahoo.com. Be advised, however, that suggestions, etc. will be taken much more seriously if deck lists (of both decks involved in the game) accompany them. --------- * Name still under construction, of course. We just want to see if y'all really WOULD play even if it were named Dog Poo. =) -- "There's no gray. There's just white that's got grubby." -- T.P.
