A Guruhi vote deck that I've been kicking around for a while,
and it's gone through multiple incarnations. Iniko is just so
awesome. I thought I had 5 copies in the crypt, but apparently not.
Mozambique Allure should go in for some added crypt cycling.

A deck that I played at the Origins qualifier last year, and did
kind of poorly. It's performed well locally, but upon looking at the
decklist in detail, I think it needs more ousting power. Also, it
needs to be updated to 3E.

more toolboxy than the decklist might suggest. Malabranca is the 5th

This is a deck I played at the NWQ in Seattle last weekend. I built
it in half an hour the morning of the qualifier, and went into the
final as top seed with 10 VPs and 2 GWs (4, 2, 4).
Matt (Morgan) has chided me for playing Tower of London, but I never
actually played it in any game, so I can't confirm whether or not it
would have been better or worse than Ascendance. In previous Hordes
decks, it has come out as a net positive, but it's quite possible this
deck doesn't have enough to make it worthwhile.
Deck:: 28 Minutes Later
Author: Xian -
Notes: It seemed like the NWQ was going to be combatty, but I wanted
a deck that could do a lot of different stuff. For some reason,
Shambling Hordes seemed like the way to go. It did well in the
preliminary rounds, but I suffered critical deck failure in the final
round, and sat there not doing a lot for quite a while. In a couple
of the games, I was sitting there trying to figure out why I wasn't
drawing into more Shambling Hordes. I guess it's because there aren't
nearly as many as I thought I put in. I started with 20 and then cut
down. I also mostly felt like the Spiritual Interventions could have
just been more Conditionings or Threats or something. Though they did
come in handy a couple of times.

Black Panthers
I'm not sure this is any good yet, but it's amusing. I like Iniko. A lot.
Tried it for the first time last night, had some trouble in front of
a Giovanni S&B deck. I only had Iniko and Urenna out for most of the
game. Card cycling just wasn't happening. This probably needs some
more offense, and is a little toolboxy right now. I'm not sure what
to think of Terra Incognita. It seems so good, but rarely works out
as well as I hope.
Comments/suggestions welcome.

Sadly, this deck does not have a good name. That is pretty much
standard for me, though.
Anyway, I figured it has been ages since I posted any decks, and I
should go about fixing that. This deck did pretty well, in that I won
a storyline tournament with it. Though had the final gone on much
longer, I'm pretty sure the outcome would have been different, with
Nergal winning and all.
This deck is actually more focused than most I have been building
recently...I've been going pretty toolboxy for the most part. But
there's just something about Jack. Hmm...maybe that should be the
name...Something About Jack. Nah. This is kind of from the School of
Kristoff, as well...sit around, let stuff happen, use the big eye, have
permanents, etc.
There are a few actions thrown in for fun, and the Governs are
obviously there to be used for whatever seems appropriate. The Bowl
can be key, as is the Sniper Rifle. Generally getting one or the other
on Carna is a Good Thing (tm). Of course, if you never see any MotS,
that can be problematic. But that only happens when you really need
them right away.

As mentioned in the notes, this does need a little more discipline-less combat
to keep the Hordes going longer. A friend of mine has added a number of Pulled
Fangs to his version, which is an interesting mix. The version here is what I
most recently had it built as. Governs for free vampires, offensive punch if
needed. I think I've traded away most of my Memories, so those are probably out
the window. At this point, I'd probably just add some Traps or Fake Outs, and a
few more Shambling Hordes, maybe go up to 25 or so.

This is the deck I just took 4th place with in a small (10-person) tournament in
Madison. I hadn't made up my mind on what to play, and after failing to fully
cook up a Nosferatu Princes & Samedi deck on the 4-hour drive down, and deciding
against playing my trick Etrius deck and shunning my Kiasyd deck (Folderol), I
decided to play this one, which I had played in two or three casual games prior
to this. In hindsight, I would have done well to build that Nosferatu
Prince-based deck, as no one (no one! not even Cameron!) was playing a vote deck
on the day.
Here's the deck...comments follow.

Obviously, the idea is to tool up Dragos with a Fortitude skill card and either
Haven Affinity or a second Fortitude skill card and another Vicissitude skill
card, then block anything you feel like, using Dragos to play Hidden Strength as
his prevention against almost any damage you take. Shortly before the start of
the tournament, I replaced 3 Spirit's Touch with the 3 Eagle's Sight as listed
above. I was worried about that choice, but I turned out to never really need
the maneuvers, as every other deck at the tournament was either a close-range
combat deck (lunch!) or had an utter dearth of combat defense (also, lunch!).
The only real trouble I ran into was Cameron's POT/PRO deck, which I generally
got the better of when I was seated to his left, but couldn't slow up enough
when he was to my left, and Rehlow's tricky deck (which I am not going to spoil
here...let's just say it involved the Baron and combat bloat).
This deck suffers from all the weaknesses of decks that focus on one vampire, as
well as those that depend on skill cards to get moving. I had one good game (my
first), which got me into the finals, and got .5 VP the rest of the day. In the
finals, my predator screwed me (wisely) by SR-ing the first (and only) Fortitude
skill card I played. It didn't help him in the end, but it spelled the end for
me later on.
I'm considering dropping the 2 Vic skill cards and replacing with another For
skill card and a second Haven Affinity...I'm not turning up the For skill cards
fast enough, generally. Especially when I don't get one early and can't cycle
half of my hand. Pulses would be an interesting addition, but I can't figure
out what to remove. I regularly frustrate my own blocking attempts by being
unable to use Read the Winds at inferior, but I'll have to learn to stop putting
intercept retainers on Corine, and just use them for Dragos.
Comments welcome.
Xian
(thanks to Tony for reminding me of how good Dragos is)

Folderol. Here is my Folderol deck. I've played it a
couple of times, it's done fairly well in general, hampered
by a little sloppy play in the end game a couple of times.
(I was tired and wasn't paying attention because it was
a "causual" game.) Thinking about adding a couple of Far

Anyway, this is a slow-build Gargoyle deck that I've only played once. I
got the table win, but only because the last guy in (each of us with 1 VP,
one ousted player got 1 VP) thought he couldn't make it through me (though I
thought he could) and conceded.
So, yeah. It's got some stuff in it. Using Stone Quills for the THA combat
as well, because it's almost as good as Theft of Vitae, and everyone can use
it. I also always forget to send my gargolyes in to fight for me.

This is the deck that I played at Cardinal Sin: Failure of Mission Madison,
which got me 7th place that day. It has performed better in regular
play...I don't think I've lost a game with it yet. I think the round that
did me in at the tournament was the one where I was sitting at a 4-player
table with Tzimisce as my prey, dom/obf S&B as my predator, and HoS across
the table. I survived the S&B, but wasn't able to last long against two
intercept decks. Ah well.
The deck is pretty tight, though it could stand to go below 90 cards. I
could just reduce by percentages, sort of, but there's a lot in there that I
like, and I'm not sure what to take out. Obviously, it's all about Anneke
with a DOM skill card. I'm thinking a couple fewer Bewitching Oration, and
probably lose the Alacrity (but it's so funny). Maybe add Change of Target.

More of a theme deck here. It's all about !Malks using Dementation for
their stealth on bleeds. I like the concept of Kite walking through a wall
to bleed my prey. A few Forgotten Labyrinth to get Blessing of Chaos, and a
couple of Disguised Weapons for combat, but that's it for Obfuscate.
I'd also like to note that I was able to get this below 90 cards. I had it
at 75 at one point, and would like to trim it down some again, but I'm not
sure what to lose. It's all so good.

Still looking to make major improvements on this one. Any comments
appreciated. First installment of an Xian mini-blitz of decks.
Basic idea is to tool up with Masochism, Pulse, and a Garotte. Then go to
town. Not much more than that is really figured in. Could definitely mess
with the reactions some more, but for a while, we had a lot of low-bleed
stuff going on. I'll probably need to change it to about 5 Misdirects, 2
Enhanced Senses and one more Eagle's Sight.

Since it was brought up elsewhere, I thought I'd post my Shadow Twin deck
that I've been playing with since sometime in the fall. I've actually taken
it apart recently, but it's pretty amusing (to me), and I don't recall
having lost a game with it yet, out of about maybe 10. It performs best at
4-player tables, having collected a few sweeps, but it can definitely turn
in a winning performance at 5-player tables. Mostly, you want to Shadow
Twin vampires that are already low on blood, and swarm bleed, using
Consanguineous Boons here and there for pool gain. Make sure to take note
of which Embraces have been created by Lasombra (all of them, with any
luck)...I tend to forget sometimes, and then someone has to remind me that
they're not all Lasombra, and I look like a big goon. I think I'd probably
put a few more Shadow Twin in, but I think this was all I had at the time.
Or maybe not. Whatever, it tends to flow pretty well. Just watch out for a
5-cap with Atonement. That's annoying. Then you have to use Jedi Mind
Tricks to get that person tapped blocking Aurora's hunt action, and follow
up with massive Shadow Twin action.

Ideally, you get Rebekka out and make her Tremere Justicar. Next, you get
out Javier or Spiridonas and other random flunkies (Javier is preferable).
Now you start passing votes left and right, intercepting what you need to,
bloat and reduce incoming bleeds. Fairly straightforward, no real tricks to
it. I have yet to get out a Rutor's Hand in play, and I also haven't seen
Lydia or Aisling in my crypt to date. So far, my opening draw has been
Rebekka, one of the Princes, and Dr. John. This works well, it's just a
little surprising.

I was definitely expecting to get more use out of Blood to Water than I
actually received. The first thing I am going to do with this deck is take
out 3 or 4 Blood to Water, 2 Revelations, and maybe both of the Atonements.
The Atonements will likely be replaced with more Rutor's Hands, and I think
that the Enhanced Senses are going to go, replaced by more Spirit's Touch.
The Blood to Water and Revelations are going to be replaced by combat cards,
specifically Thoughts Betrayed and maybe bring Theft of Vitae and Apportation
up to 8 each. More Eagle's Sight would be great, but unlikely, and the deck
needs more dominate punch to bleed...a few more Governs wouldn't hurt, but I'm
not sure what to remove. The Graverobbing could be, as it isn't necessary,
but it seems so useful.
Again, this deck is not in its final form, but on its first trial run, it
performed quite well, and will hopefully do so again.

There are a number of ways you can run with these disciplines, especially
in combination. However sometimes, it's fun to do everything really
straightforward, because everyone knows that you're really sneak, and
they'll wonder what you're really up to!
Ever notice how these disciplines also are fairly "toolbox"? Not quite
as much as Animalism or Protean, but they all provide some unusual effects.
Obtenebration: Combat, Stealth, a little Intercept
Serpentis: Combat, Corruption (of course), a little stealth
Thaumaturgy: Combat, weird effects (Cryptic Mission, Seeds of Destruction,
Magic of the Smith)
So, with this in mind, the following deck uses Serpentis' primary focus
(corruption) as an excuse to get into combat and torporize the opposing
minions using Heart of Darkness + Burst of Sunlight, lots of Marks of
Damnation, Entombment...all the best stuff. The Heart of Darknesses
are also in there for Rutor's Hand, which provides more opportunities
to Corrupt. Use Thefts to regain the blood from Minion Tapping...

All right. I admit that I haven't had time to test this deck.
I promise to do so as soon as I can and report on its effectiveness.
It is similar to one I have had posted in my archive for a while,
but instead of using Seeds of Corruption, the idea here is just to
vote and scare people away from combat if they intercept you. The
crypt selection is pretty awful, as usual. I'd like to add some
Aire of Elation or Presence bleed actions, but I'm not sure what
to take out, or if they belong in the deck to start with. The Majesty
could go, but I'm kind of intrigued by using it. Instead of Kindred
Coercion, Dread Gaze could go in...Awe would be fine as well, I'm sure.

Comments: I don't think I've ever built a Tremere deck like this before. Although
it is fairly focused, I have tended to concentrate on either combat, something
completely weird, or a standard auspex/dominate/thaumaturgy deck. I like the
focus here on bleeding, with adequate combat backup. Obviously, it's not going
to stand up to a determined assault, but it should provide a nuisance to anyone
that wants to block. The minions are relatively small, making it your best bet to
ignore rushers and simply keep bleeding and pulling out more vampires.
This deck uses Scouting Mission and Bonding to achieve a fairly standard bleed
of 3 at +1 stealth. If you're not scared of Archon Investigation, switch to Govern
the Unaligned and/or Threats/Conditioning; however, I wasn't sure how this deck
would do on regaining blood, even with the Theft of Vitae available. 4 or 5 vampires
bleeding for 3 each per turn should prove relatively threatening in most environments.
The +1 stealth would not cut it in my usual playgroup, as they tend to have light
intercept in almost every deck. It should, however, work acceptably in other
environments.
I originally designed this without the Effective Managements, the WWEF, and
Deflections, but I thought they might be useful. If you want, take them out, and
add in one more Blood Doll, a couple more Delaying Tactics, 2 Scouting Missions
& Bondings, and 2 each of Movement of the Mind and Theft of Vitae. Or, that's
what I recommend at least.
Admittedly, without the WWEF, the Delaying Tactics are less useful. I also originally
had a couple of Political Backlashes thrown in for fun, as I never see them,
and they might be amusing to throw in.

really want to base some deck around Akhenaten. That will have to wait,

Okay...here's the deal. This deck came about during a discussion with
Legbiter on how to make a deck around a fairly useless card. A different
card which shall remain nameless until tested in JOL. But then we started
talking about other neat but largely wallpaper-ish cards. Case in point, the
Portrait is cool, but generally useless, cause you don't know who the hell is
on top of your prey's crypt. But now *you too* can find out who is behind
door #1!! Simply peek with the one Nosferatu, if you don't like it, burn
with Yong-Sun, wait around & hunt or something (or is the crypt special
useful *all* the time...? I suppose I'll check LSJ's page after I post
this...), and then check again! Hehehe. I find it amusing. It might even
win games, as stealth + bleed, I'm told, is sometimes an effective strategy
(not that I'd know, playing Tremere & combat & all...). Generally, you want
to aim for the untap & bleed at +1...and I *think* you can still add Aire of
Elation on top of it...and there's additional stealth for keeping your
Toreador unmussy. Keep 'em guessing, though... I suppose you could also put
a Nosferatu Kingdom or two in if you wanted...you *need* Yong-Sun out, and
there are probably going to be extra copies floating around with all those
Effective Managements...Blood Doll/Minion Tap might be a good idea, but I'm
not sure if it's better than Tribute to the Master for this deck.
Anyway, enjoy all...I'll see if I can refine this deck, but I would *really*
like ideas on how to improve it...

Here's that Dominate/Thaumaturgy/Fortitude deck I promised. People will
probably stop blocking quickly as soon as they realize that there's no hope
of ending combat not in torpor, so there's only 8 Skin of Night & Dawn
Ops...a few more Weather Control. The biggest problem I have noted so far is
the tendency to have all your vamps running low on blood. That is quite the
problem. I don't want to put in the Rack because it will likely just get
stolen. Beyond that, I used mainly Scouting Mission & Threats to keep the
blood expenditure low & to allow for scaling the bleeds...max bleed of 4 with
Scouting Mission/Threats, 5 with GtU/Threats (6 with Bindusara...), but it's
easy to keep below 4 if you're scared of Archon Investigation. Oh well. Here
goes.

minion like Hasina...Pulled Fangs there just for the annoyance, since they'll
be in torpor without any blood at all...I was considering putting a copy or
two of the Society of Leopold in there, just because I saw one effectively
placed in a recent JOL playtest game, but although an interesting way to burn
a torporized vampire, it's not all that efficient.
So...fire away...

suppose the Obf could go, I had it in at the start for the maneuvers & the

Notes:
Obviously this deck is not solely Tremere, but I found it hard to put any
others in. You could do it with 4 each of Cardano, Javier, and Thomas
Thorne.
The beautiful thing about this deck is that for the most part, you only need
the inferior levels of each discipline for it to operate effectively.
Superior thaumaturgy is the most important discipline to have, then celerity.
You don't really need animalism at superior, but it certainly doesn't hurt.
I think it's pretty apparent, but I saw that the three Tremere also had
Animalism in addition to the Tha/Cel, and I wanted to see what I could do
with that. I also enjoyed the DotB/Terror Frenzy combo. Admittedly, it's
not the greatest that you still generally want to maneuver to range, but you
should be able to tailor your combat to what range you want, by picking who
you attack and then using the appropriate Ani card.
This could do without the Cat's Guidance, I suppose. More Psyches would be
useful, as would more Walk of Flame. Unfortunately, I have used the kitties
quite effectively in JOL76, and couldn't bear to part with them, even though
I know I generally tap out with either a lot of attacks or bleeds. (Note:
this is not the exact deck I'm playing in JOL76, as that one has 105 cards in
the library...) The kitties were in the original incarnation of the deck,
have proven exceedingly handy, and it's hard to get rid of them.
The basic combat combo for this deck is DotB/Terror Frenzy (or both!) +
(maneuver if necessary) + Theft of Vitae + Flash to press + (Blood to Water)
+ Walk of Flame. Throw in additional strikes for spice.
The deck does poorly (I imagine...haven't run up against one yet...) against
well-designed combat decks, with the exception of Gangrel combat decks, which
it was specifically engineered to defeat. It does fairly well against them.
Celerity almost always gets you more maneuvers than Protean.
Well, that's about it for this month. I hope everyone enjoys all of this,
and I promise to post a non-rush deck next month. It might still be
combat-oriented, but...

Death of My Conscience
Notes:
The proportions for this deck are based on the best potence rush deck
I’ve seen around, Peter Bajika’s Nosferatu rush deck.
This deck is designed to take advantage of the 7/7 ruling on Immortal Grapple.
Hit hard first round with Immortally-grappled strikes, using the press to get
to second round, then hit with Walk of Flame or other strikes. I mainly
designed this because I’ve had both celerity-thaumaturgy and fortitude-
thaumaturgy decks, but there’s never been a way to work potence-thaumaturgy
well until now. This deck has a problem with aggravated damage, as do many
decks, so I tossed in the Leather Jackets.
And yes, that’s right. No Thoughts Betrayed. It could go in, but in general,
I refuse to play it in my decks. It was obviously broken pre-7/7, and I just
don’t like to design decks around that card. Plus it would take up valuable
room in this deck. And isn’t Immortal Grapple good enough?
Another option to deal with aggravated damage that doesn’t reduce the rushing
capability of this deck (too much) is to lose the 2 Rampage, 1 Walk of Flame,
all 4 Leather Jackets, 1 Blood Fury, the 1 Death of My Conscience, the 2 Drain
Essence, and 1 Undead Strength. Add in 6 Serpentis skill cards and 6 Heart of
Darkness (or 4 and 8, or whatever you like). Yes, this is crazy, but it would
be very entertaining.
If you want to complain loudly about how you don’t think you’ve drawn enough
maneuvers for your Tremere to get to long range the first time you get into
combat, that would probably be really amusing.

4x Delaying Tactics
Well...the object of this deck...kinda screwy...is to intercept a bunch of
stuff & make sure that you get into combat...and then have at least 7 Raptors
on your minion in combat. It's the new Thoughts Betrayed!!! Of course, I
find it a *lot* less objectionable because it's so damn hard to pull off...
You could throw in a few Atonement to deal with weenies if you wanted...the
Bum's Rushes are to attack hostile voters mainly...use Delaying Tactics to
stop a really awful vote, then Bum's Rush on your turn...with all the Raptors
you've got, at least that vote goes away. Not horribly workable unless the
WVP deck is your predator, in which case, you don't rush, just intercept with
Atonements...
Primarily, of course, you want to intercept your prey. The Obfuscate is not
for the bleeding, but for when you employ the retainers...bleed at no
stealth, and dare them to block you. Eventually, you should be able to
really downgrade the effectiveness of your prey's deck, no matter what their
strategy is. And most predators (once you get rolling...I know...) are going
to get shut down with all that permanent intercept and no way to get rid of
it...
I wanted to include more 'D steal me' locations, but deck size got me...
Yeah, Tigersclaw, Madpoet, Droz, and Xavier Abad, if you're reading
this...JOL90 & JOL84 I'm testing the Ani/Aus version...
Finally, about the crypt. I've decided to include lots more big vampires
(hmm...maybe I should put in more Nigel for the Atonements....and he's got
the disciplines...) because of the blood requirements for the Raptors, and
Animalism is really required at superior. I didn't feel like putting in 6-8
Animalism skill cards...though it could be done, I suppose...crypt
suggestions would be most welcome. Actually, any suggestions except telling
me that this deck is too slow would be helpful...

So, the idea here is to go for the extremely fragile combo of Smudge
diablerizing an older vampire, either in combat or not (then Absolve him,
keep him whole by debate, or making him an Archon), making him Depraved, have
him Impersonate a !Toreador to get Art of Pain, then Impersonate a Gangrel to
get a Ritual Challenge & the Gangrel Revel.
Phew...don't think I left anything out...that should add up to about 7 hand
damage. Which isn't that useful, but I find extremely amusing.

Howdy all...comments quite welcome...just retooled this, and it has been
moderately successful in the past...I've mentioned a number of times that my
playgroup is composed largely of people who play mainly Gangrel, but I've
still managed to burn a fair number of vamps with this deck...this is not
designed with a CL, but could be pretty easily converted to 4CL...
And yes, I know the crypt is large, but it's better than putting in many
many master skill cards & using a pile of vamps who don't have better
disciplines...

Okay...so the idea is to get out a couple of Praxis Seizures, hit your prey
with a bunch of Seeds, and then sit your prey in your predator's spot, putting
whoever you want in front of you. This way, although your prior prey can still
block & such, he's going to have a hard time taking any actions against you.
Hmm...not horribly exciting, but still amusing. The combat is in there more for
defense, and to deplete your prey's vampires of blood. Clan Impersonations instead
of that little "you are now Camarilla" equipment, because though it costs blood,
it isn't vulnerable to equipment destruction. So there you have it...a semi-exciting
Seeds deck. Beh. I'm not as impressed as I was at first, but I keep liking the
Kindred Restructure trick.
And Pre/Tha/Aus is interesting.

And, just for the heck of it, I'm going to post my recently re-tooled version of
the classic Tha/For deck. Mine is Dom/For/Tha...you really need to get them to block
somehow, and with Dom, if they don't block, a bleed from 3 to 6 is coming
their way...the question becomes whether or not it is more worthwhile to have a
vampire in torpor, or suck a significant bleed. Hmm...okay, this isn't the recently
re-tooled one...I'll use the crypt I have listed, and make changes to the library
as necessary. Will probably post a follow-up with the real stats after Josh Duffin
& a few others get together for Jyhad this weekend.

Hmm...I'm still missing some stuff, but some of the numbers on Scouting
Mission/GtU/Threats may be off. I do recall that there are exactly 8 Weather
Control/Skin of Night/Dawn Op in the deck, though. There are likely a couple
more Tremere locations & such, but that's about it. No Thoughts Betrayed.
Do I say that often enough? Dog Pack & Clan Impersonation to get around
continual S:CE, and Arson/BR + Soul Burn to hurt pesky minions. Again, I
know it's a little rough, but I'll post the real deck in a couple of days...
That's it for now...
