Q1: How (and when) did you begin your career as a VTES-player? Who introduced you to the game? Where did you play originally?
I worked at a Software Etc. store that started selling Magic and Jyhad. I bought a few packs, and after some fruitless attempts trying to play with my friends, tossed them into a small dark box. A few years later I managed to play with college friends, and after a year or two they went back into the small dark box. After college, one of my roommates found Ethan Burrow online (don't ask which chat room) and we started playing with the Austin group (incl. The Lasombra). That's when I started playing professionally, hustling people for ante in smoky pool halls, airports, bus terminals, truck stops...

Q2: What is your favorite VTES word?
Bleed

Q3: What is your least favorite VTES word?
Mill

Q4: What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
Finding a use for cards that most people pass over.
Playing with the friends I've made over the years at huge conventions with fabulous prizes.
Knowing that I could move to other cities and play with those same friends, crash on their couches.

Q5: What turns you off?
Realizing I brought the wrong deck to a tournament, and that I have to play it for 2 more rounds.
Big Losing Streaks that last a year or more.
Not getting to attend events because I'm in a show.
Not Being Oscar Garza.

"F*ck" - In fact, any word that uses an asterisk

Q7: What sound or noise do you love?
The sound of Ethan Burrow snoring
The sound of beer pouring out your nose
The quiet, shadowy laugh of Jeff Thompson
The crinkle of a new pack being opened
The silence of being awestruck

The constant din in the GenCon TCG Hall, especially the L5R players yelling
Our cat knocking cards off the table
The rip of a mis-shuffle
The silence of boredom

Contract killer
