What follows is a copy of an email I sent to my playgroup, the L.A. Midnight Jyhad League. Comments and ideas are welcome. Legendre *************************** I've figured out how to run a VTES campaign.... though all I've got so far is a rough outline. Here's the plan: 1) We take the entire universe of vampires, and we split them up among the cities for which their are princes or archbishops. We do this in accordance with the Vampire RPG canon wherever possible - i.e. Jan Pieterzoon is likely going to be located in Amsterdam. 2) Each non-titled vampire will be located in at least two cities. Weenies will exist in three or more cities, to simulate the larger population of young vampires. 3) We group the cities into "regions". Atlanta and Miami might be one region, Detroit and Chicago another, and New York/Boston a third. 4) Each game is played in a particular region, using decks created on paper using ONLY the vampires from that region. This represents the Methuselahs using those pawns in that particular region. A vampire from another region costs an additional pool for vampires sizes 1-5, two additional pool for sizes 6-8, and three additional pool for sizes 9-11. That means your inner circle member, unless you're in their home region, is going to cost you 14 pool. This also means that Contesting is going to be MUCH more likely. 5) Unique Items are also "located" in regions. They can be used in games set in other regions by paying an additional 2 pool for the cost of the unique item. Certain items, such as the Anakara Citadel, are NEVER going to move. La Pere Chaise is always going to be in Western Europe, no matter how hard you try. 6) Certain unique locations will be considered locked down, though most will be available in any region. Every region has a Police Department, for instance. 7) If a Methuselah wins a game in a region, he or she "controls" that region until another Methuselah recaptures it. Control of a region carries with it some benefits: (a) Bringing vampires, unique items, etc. "across" from a region you control costs 1 less pool. (b) You may use unique locations that are in your region in any region. (The Palace of Versailles can be used by the person who controls Western Europe in any game) The winner is the first Methuselah to control some arbitrary number of regions.
