South East Regional Qualifier - By David J Tatu and VTES Atlanta Atlanta, GA May 21-23, 2004 (weekend before Memorial day.) Schedule: Friday, May 21. Constructed Tournament. 2 R+F. 7:30 PM start time. Saturday, May 22. SE Regional Qualifier. 11 AM Registration. 12 Noon Start time. 3R+F with 2 hour time limit for all rounds. Sunday, May 23. Tournament, format to be announced. 10AM start time. R+F or Draft for 2 rounds. (Pre-draft the night before at 10 PM) Judging for Friday and Sunday will be multi-judge if under 20 or one of the following: Jeff Thompson, Robyn Tatu, Todd Banister or David Tatu. Judge for Qualifier is scheduled to be L. Scott Johnson. Location: Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, Midtown Atlanta 1470 Spring St. NW Atlanta GA 30309 404-872-5821 The events will be held in a private banquet room located off of back parking. Tables and seating for 70 players will be provided. Green felt tablecloths for all tables. Room set-up starts at 3:00 PM May 21 and move out at 7:00 PM May 23. The room is secure and the organizer has the key to lock and unlock room. Private bathroom. No smoking in room but room opens to the parking lot. Coolers and ice will be provided for drinks. There will be a $15 registration fee that covers the entire weekend. If the Sunday event is a draft, there will be an additional cost for the cards. Players staying at the hotel will have their registration fee reduced by $5 for each room night booked for up to two people per room. (If two players stay in a room for two nights then registration is reduced by $10 per player). Prize support provided by White Wolf and VTES Atlanta. There is a block booking agreement with the hotel. When making reservations tell them you are staying for the "White Wolf Event". The room rate is $69 per night plus taxes. If there are more then 20 rooms booked then the rate will drop to $59 per night for everyone. Suites are also available, ask for rates when registering. Hotel amenities include: Free parking, Free local phone calls, a very large free continental breakfast, workout room and outdoor pool. The hotel van will provide service to locations in a two mile radius. There is a grocery store in walking distance. Many restaurants and bars within ½ mile. Driving directions to be provided but the hotel is 6 blocks from major expressway exits. For players flying in to Atlanta Hartsfield Airport; Taxi service is $28. MARTA (Atlanta's subway) is $1.75 each way from the airport to the Art's Center station. From the station, walking is 5 city blocks to the venue or the hotel will provide shuttle service by calling their 800 number for a pick up. Subway service is very simple; the last station on the line is in the Airport and there is only one line that serves the airport. Travel time is about 25 minutes. Additional information. Jeff Thompson, The Lasombra, will be selling singles and VTES Atlanta players will be running a gaming flee market with games, cards and other stuff during the week-end. There is a diner across the street that will be open just for the players for 2 hours on Saturday for lunch. A large selection of grilled and deep fried items and deli sandwiches will be available for purchase. The hotel week-end concept was in place for the first time and was very well received. This year's set up is much better and we anticipate a much larger turn out. Airfare to Atlanta is very reasonable for that time of year. Airtran and Delta are often the cheapest.
