V:EKN Clan Toreador Antitribu Newsletter, February 1999

Welcome to my first installment of the Clan Toreador-Antitribu
newsletter. It is primarily web based, and this issue can be found at
. I recommend reading it
there, as I don't plan on including hyperlinks in the newsgroup version.
I'm posting it a tad early since tomorrow is the big media blitz and I
don't know if I'll get to it until later in the week ;-)

**2/1/99 Editors Corner - Ethan Burrow, Prince of Austin
Welcome to the first issue of the Toreador-Antitribu newsletter. I will
freely admit that I am not a V:TM player, so some of my assumptions
on how Toreador-Antitribu behave may indeed be false. Nevertheless,
I will attempt my best to convey what *I* think will allow you to
succeed with this versatile clan.
I welcome submission and comments (who knows, I might have a
letters section later). You can reach me at ethan@ddg.com.

**Vampire of the Month -
Ian Wallingford.
Toreador Antitribu
6 Capacity - PRE, CEL, aus
Sabbat: Bishop

As balanced as vampires come in the Sabbat. All 3 in clan skills, 2 of
which are superior. A title (albeit one vote), all for the modest price
of 6 capacity. He's a staple for any of the decks you try to build with
this clan unless you're attempting a pure Auspex deck that depends on
superior.

You'll never be upset if he's in your crypt, he basically provides you
with everything you might need for most situations. Of the three skills,
Auspex is the most useful at inferior, so your hand will not likely jam
with Ian on the table.

**Clan Specific Card of the Month -
The Art of Pain
Unique Master
2-pool
Put this card on a ready Toreador Antitribu. The vampire
with this card gets +2 hand damage each combat.

This card will make any Brujah hesitate before engaging with the
Toreador-Antitribu. Combining this with Depravity and/or melee
weapons creates a force to be reckoned with. Make sure you put this
on a Vampire with superior celerity, and stock up on additional strikes.
Pack several Side Strikes to keep the other combat decks honest, and
then blur. Their combat will require more card combos than yours, and
you should end up on top.

It may seem costly compared to the Bank-Nakh which is not unique.
But intercept cannot stop it, and it's hard to steal/destroy. A must for
any Toreador-Antitribu combat deck that want's to seriously deal the
damage.

Thanks to The Lasombra for his contribution to this article by playing
his deck in my presence.

**Why the Toreador (Both Camarilla and Sabbat) are one of the most
versatile clans in the game.
To put it simply, they have the skills and supporting cards to perform
all the deck archetypes effectively.

Bleed - They have Presence bleed actions and modifiers. Pulse of the
Canille is also in the arsenal. Jost was never happier.
Rush - They have celerity (argueably the best combat skill) which can
be used in conjunction with guns, melee weapons, etc., while you can
use Presence to abort combat if needed (unless you rushed someone
that managed to grapple you at which point you deserve to get
pummeled).

Voting - They have Presence which IMHO is almost a requirement to
make your vote deck effective. A couple of Auspex related cards also
add flavor. Also 5 out of the 11 vampires from the Sabbat set have
titles.

Intercept - Our playgroup plays a lot with intercept, and we've become
to think of it as another category from the others. Auspex to block, and
you can choose to either fight with Celerity or abort with Presence.
Defense - You have Auspex to counter or deflect bleeds, and Celerity or
Presence to use when combat ensues from blocking.

**Deck Medic/Strategy Corner
Until I get requests for help, I'll just post some tips that should be
useful to the Toreador-Antitribu ;-).

Don't be afraid to enlist the aid of the Toreador. Not
only are there a lot more of them in the Camarilla
than in the Sabbat, but some of their special abilities will compliment
your decks. I won't waste this section talking about material that
should be in the Toreador Newsletter, but if you're looking for a vamp
or two to fill in your crypt....

Most Toreador and/or Toreador Antitribu decks I've seen involve
Intercept decks using guns. If you have a potent (as in powerful...not
the skill) deck using Toreador Antitribu that's radically different, I'd
love to see it (and with your permission post it in next month's
newsletter).
