3.3 DECK CONCEPT
3.4 CONCLUSIONS

3.1 INTRODUCTION

Peter made a good point in the last Nosferatu Newsletter. It was similar to
the point made when I first started this newsletter. Both from a RPG and a
VTES standpoint, the Nosferatu and Nosferatu Antitribu clans are cooperative
and similar. In fact, in most deck designs, they are interchangeable. I'll
try to keep most of my newsletter content focused on the Antitribu members
of the clan, but like Peter there will be times where I need to call upon my
opposing brethren for support. (You can find the Brujah and Toreador doing
similarly) I apologize if this is a startling or disturbing revelation for
anyone, but it's just a game, and this is just a newsletter.

Also, to repeat a statement made in Volume one, I play this game for
entertainment, both to entertain myself and to entertain the people I play
with. If I win, swell. If I don't, it's ok as long as I have fun and the
people at my table have fun. This means that rarely, if ever, will the
concepts listed here in this newsletter lead the reader to new heights of
tournament success. However, I'll darn near guarantee you that if you build
on these concepts you'll have fun and you'll entertain your table.

3.2 CARD SPOTLIGHT

Within VTES there are cards called Clan Hosers. These cards (generally
Master cards but they don't need to be) are designed to apply some ill
effect to a particular clan. As a whole, these cards will rarely be seen in
a constructed environment. In most cases, the card is too narrow to make the
cut in today's lean, focused, tourney-style decks.

Recently, I saw an interesting deck concept piloted by Noal McDonald (the
Prince of Detroit) using Derange and Derangement - Paranoia to lock down his
predator. This deck (while once again not extremely focused or powerful)
reminded me and my play group about the possible value of clan hosers in a
non-tourney style environment.

Then Aaron Steele (The Nosferatu Stuff from the Newsnet) reminded me about
Unacceptable Appearance.

Unacceptable Appearance
Master Card
(no cost, non-unique)

Put this card on a Nosferatu antitribu. The vampire with this card is no
longer considered to be a Nosferatu antitribu. He or she is now a Pander,
and any Nosferatu antitribu with a different controller may enter combat
with him or her as a (D) action. The vampire with this card may burn it as a
(D) action that costs 2 blood.

Used offensively, it allows your Nos Antitrib to enter combat with some
other former-Nos-Antitrib-now-Pander. (or in short acts as a Haven
Uncovered). Seen in this light it follows the pattern of most other clan
hosers - i.e. weak and near worthless.

However, as I will show below, perhaps we can use this awful card to our own
advantage???

3.3 DECK CONCEPT

The idea here is use Unacceptable Appearance to make some Pander that don't
suck (i.e. Pander with some decent disciplines and no lame drawbacks), use
Legacy of Pander to provide those Pander with votes, and use those votes for
pool gain (in the form of Consanguineous Boon) and Anathema (pool gain
again). The primary discipline will be Potence, with a splash of Obfuscate
for good measure.

DECK: I wanna be . Different.
Maker: Matt Latham
Concept: Nosfeatu-Antitrib Vote Deck using Legacy of Pander

The Real Panders:

1 Basil (obf)
1 Mitchell (pot)
1 Rex (pot)
1 Lena (obf)
2 Jimmy Dunn (POT)

The "Fake" Panders
1 Tommy (pot)
1 Agatha (POT obf)
1 Olivia (POT OBF)
1 Nigel the Shunned (POT obf)
1 Ox (POT OBF)
1 Christianus (pot OBF)
1 Cicatriz (pot obf)
1 Kendrick (POT obf)

The Sellouts

1 Volker (pot)
1 Calebros (pot obf)
1 Murat (POT OBF)
1 Nikolas (POT obf)

Master Card (18):
1 Powerbase Madrid (I need one of these if anyone has a spare!)
4 Unacceptable Appearance
1 Hungry Coyote
3 Haven Uncovered
3 Blood Doll
5 Potence
1 Information Highway

Potence: (34)
5 Torn Signpost
10 Immortal Grapple
5 Increased Strength
7 Undead Strength
3 Thrown Gate
3 Disarm (all I own)
1 Rampage

Obfuscate (5)
5 Lost in Crowds
Votes: (13)
4 Legacy of Pander
Crusade Detroit
Crusade Philadelphia
Crusade Toronto
3 Consanguinous Boon
3 Anathema
1 Dramatic Upheaval

Other (20)
6 Bums Rush
4 Fake Out
2 Pulled Fangs
2 Ghouled Street Thug
4 The Embrace

Basically a Potence Rush deck with vote backup for Anathema and Diablerie
defense. Should be able to easily get out a whole host of vampires to vote,
bleed, or rush with.

PROBLEMS WITH THE CONCEPT: Where do we start???
1) Four Camarilla princes in an 18 vamp crypt means that I will only get one
in my opening draw sometimes, and I need them to call Anathema. (and
ironically to help pass the early Legacy of Pander and the Crusades)
2) Spread focus means it will kinda-rush and kinda vote but neither
exceptionally well
3) No intercept

UPSIDE TO THE CONCEPT: Only one.. its interesting. No one will know what the
heck you are trying.

3.4 CONCLUSION

Thus endith a discussion over putting crappy cards into crappy decks in
interesting ways. Be careful, I may just built this monstrosity.

Next month's newsletter will probably be less about crap and more about
Obfuscate and uses for it OTHER than just Stealth.
