Siren's Call December 2001 Contents A - Intro B - Verse (Fiction) C - Chorus (Card of the Month) D - Bridge (Vampire of the Month) E Flat - Mandatory Drum Solo (Deck Clinic) F - Outro Intro Welcome to the First Edition of the Daughters of Cacophony Newsletter aka Siren's Call. A little later than the others, I wanted to wait until after the Pre-Release to write as I wanted some thing tactile in my hands to write about. I hope that you enjoy my fiction and card/deck reviews, should you have any comments or have a DOC deck idea that you wish to contribute please email me at oaflord@sprint.ca. When Bloodlines was first introduced and I knew that the Daughters were a possibility, I was overcome with the thought of how the Melpominee discipline may be used. Now that I have seen some cards from the set, I can now say that I wasn't too far off. (See Chorus) Verse Delilah Monroe was not impressed. Only certain kindred were supposed to see this concert, but a whole bunch of elders just pushed by as if she wasn't there! This would not impress the Director. Not that she knew who the Director was, but she did know that her career in the business relied on the Director's assistance. Would all these unwelcome guests be appreciated by the Director? One thing was for sure. The Toreador known as Elliot Sinclair was in the audience tonight, and he apparently has the Director as an immediate superior, so nothing could go wrong! "Delilah, can we get on with this?" said a troubled Dieter. He didn't like the whole bodyguard thing. His usual work was at a desk writing music for the band, not thuggery. "Patience, Dieter. Isabel has not arrived yet, and the band can't go on without its lead singer. She will be here any." Delilah was promptly cut off by Isabel running through the front door screaming for her makeup crew. She flew by Delilah and headed for the green room. "moment. I weep for our future, Dieter." Minutes later, the lights dimmed and the concert began, but Delilah noticed something that ran a chill down her spine. In the balcony reserved for the Director (always empty) were two figures. One male, tall and slender but striking in looks and one female, also slender but a good six seven inches shorter than the male. Their faces were lit by the stage lights and now Delilah could easily see the Director's face, perfect in every way. She had no idea that the Director was none other than the Prince of her Domain. Having a Toreador prince makes for a good place for the Daughters, Delilah always thought. But why was Tatiana sitting with the Malkavian Primogen? This was worrisome indeed. To Be Continued... Chorus Tourette's Voice Reaction Auspex/Melpominee aus - +1 intercept mel - Give any minion you control (including this one) +1 intercept MEL - Give any minion +1 intercept This card can become the backbone of a Toreador/Daughter intercept deck, as it allows minions to share intercept. The premise being that if need be you can play Tourette's Voice with a Toreador for +1 intercept, then any Daughter can share that intercept with the same Toreador by playing T's Voice as well. The correlation to Cloak the Gathering is there, however Cloak has the advantage that tapped minions can play action modifiers where you need an untapped minion to play reaction cards (barring WWEF etc.) In superior Melpominee anyone on the table can benefit from your intercept. This can make for some interesting cross table deals, or it can allow you to help stop some table breaking move/vote/rush/bleed/etc. Going back to the intro, I felt that when Melpominee became a VTES discipline, I would see something along the Cloak line, but I had no idea it would be a split discipline with Auspex. Now I can put my "Deadly Rose" back together and tweak it a bit with the Daughters (see future issues of Mandatory Drum Solo). Bridge Delilah Monroe 4 cap, MEL, for, pre Daughter of Cacophony Independent Delilah gets -1 intercept when attempting to block an older vampire. The star of our Verse, Delilah at first glance does have a bit of a drawback. But, in combination with our Chorus, Tourette's Voice, she can and will be a welcome addition to any intercept deck. Having MEL gives her the opportunity to assist another Methuselah in need if the time arises. Having for and pre, also make her a great addition to the Law Firm as next Month's Chorus Madrigal can attest. As far as the rest of her goes, I will take this opportunity to comment on the card's artwork. The symbol for the Daughters is a natural crossover from the WOD, and the background of music on staffs is not too understated but also does not overwhelm the card like some other Bloodlines who shall remain nameless for now. As for Delilah herself, John Van Fleet's portrait of a girl in pins (a lot of them) takes a different look than the conventional romantic idea of the Daughters, but all in life is art, so one cannot say what is right and what is wrong. Mandatory Drum Solo Until I get the full Daughters/Melpominee card list, I won't have a deck listing, so if anyone can send me spoilers on all of the Daughters/Melpominee EXCEPT (as in I have these already) the following I would appreciate that immensely!! Choir Madrigal Tourette's Voice Concert Tour The Missing Voice Delilah Celeste Muse Siren's Lure Thanks in advance to all that help me!! Outro So there it is. The first edition of the Daughters of Cacophony newsletter is complete. Next month we will be focussing on Madrigal and Muse, so till next time, email me with your comments, card spoilers, deck ideas, etc!! oAFLORD aka Thomas Kuster oaflord@sprint.ca
