VEKN CAITIFF NEWSLETTER Feb. 2001 Issue #2 CAITIFF HAIKU DECK DE-CONSTRUCTION CAITIFF FICTION VAMP OF THE HOUR COMING SOON TO A POST NEAR YOU CAITIFF HAIKU Igo the Hungry. What does Igo hunger for? Only Igo knows. DECK DE-CONSTRUCTION This month's deck was e-mailed to me by Dave Hammond, a familiar name around here. I can't really comment on this deck as much as I would like to, as I haven't had a chance to try it. I plan on putting it together with a couple tweaks at my next game, though. I will take out the Elysium (I am also guessing this is an older deck pre-errata on the card), and put in maybe a couple Anarch Troublemakers, one of my favourite fillers. Deck Name: Mini Menace Created by: Dave Hammond Description: Hit the ground running - bleed like a bastard! Crypt: (18 cards) [Min: 4, Max: 8, Avg: 1.22] 1 Angela Decker (pre, Pander, 1) 1 Antoinette DuChamp (cel pre, Caitiff, 1) 1 Basil (obf, Pander, 1) 1 Dimple (obf, Nosferatu, 2) 1 Franciscus (aus, Caitiff, 1) 1 Frederick the Weak (pre, Brujah Antitribu, 2) 1 Hasina Kesi (pot, Caitiff, 1) 1 Huang (pro, Pander, 1) 1 Igo the Hungry (pre pro, Caitiff, 1) 1 Julius (qui ser, Caitiff, 1) 1 KoKo (pot, Nosferatu, 2) 1 March Halcyon (for, Pander, 1) 1 Navar McLaren (ani, Caitiff, 1) 1 Nik (cel, Caitiff, 1) 1 Normal (obf, Malkavian, 2) 1 Royce (dom, Pander, 1) 1 Smudge the Ignored (Caitiff, 1) 1 Uriah Winter (for pot, Caitiff, 1) Library: (80 cards) Master (20 cards) 2 Dreams of the Sphinx 7 Effective Management 1 Elysium: The Arboretum 1 Information Highway 2 Obfuscate 1 Parthenon, The 2 Pentex Subversion 1 Powerbase: Montreal 1 Storage Annex 2 Tribute to the Master Minion (60 cards) 1 Aire of Elation 2 Arson 5 Cloak the Gathering 20 Computer Hacking 2 Earth Meld 1 Legal Manipulations 2 Lost in Crowds 3 Majesty 4 Political Backlash 3 Psychic Veil 6 Social Charm 8 Surprise Influence 3 Thrown Gate David has these comments. The problem with Caitiff - they can't do stealth. At least 2 Panders have obf, but not the Caitiff - the only stealth abilities they have are protean and celerity, and they can hardly afford it! They tend to have martial disciplines, as you point out in your post, so can hardly contribute to a rounded deck as they are. Sacrificial pawns are what I use them for - even the above deck just bleeds (typically at 0 stealth!) and just hopes that weight of numbers wins over. However, it has been in a final, and often sweeps tables. Editor's Note: Lest we forget Dan Murdock, but he is hard to get a hold of. I believe this deck could work as I have surprised a table with a weenie presence deck very similar to this with lots of Aire of Elation and Intimidation. If the Majesty didn't save them, then I just forgot about them and let them die in torpor. That deck won when Misdirection was broken, and I killed off my preys in consecutive turns 3, 4 and 5. I think it can still work with Anarch Troublemaker and pray for little or no Deflecting (yeah right). CAITIFF FICTION Smudge rules!! (Prove me wrong!!!!) VAMP OF THE HOUR Julius For those of you who have tried out an Assamites/Setites deck, you know how valuable Julius can be. Use the Assamites to clear the path for the Setite bleed, and you're set. Julius fits in well with quietus and serpentis as disciplines. You may even want to try 2 in the deck, as the second he goes to torpor. poof! Slap an obfuscate skill card on him and he strikes terror (take that lightly) in to the hearts of those who oppose him, as he can slide by an interceptor to bleed with a Night Moves, adding to the Setite presence bleeds.
