Brujah Antitribu newsletter. September 2006 Author: Paul Wiggers Table of contents: 1. Introduction 2. New Brujah Antitribu cards in Third Edition 3. Card of the month 4. Deck of the month 5. Last Words =================================== 1. Introduction Since the last Brujah Antitribu news letter was written well over two years ago I have taken up the task of writing a monthly newsletter about this violent but versatile clan. Third Edition has just been released and to me that sounds like a good reason to start from scratch with this newsletter. Therefore I will probably use some tactics, decks etc. that have already been discussed in the previous newsletters, but I will try to keep those repetitions to a minimum. Off course all comments and suggestions are welcomed and can be send to PaulWiggers[at]gmail.com. =================================== 2. New Brujah Antitribu cards in Third Edition Third Edition has brought a good amount of new cards for Brujah Antitribu. I will list the crypt and library cards below and give some common use for them. Crypt cards All vampire are group 4 unless stated otherwise. Alessandro Garcia pot pre pro 4 Alessandro gets +1 strength in combat with a Lasombra With his low capacity and the ability to play Iron Glare minor he is a good filler for a pre pot vote deck. His added protean makes him a good companion for any Henry Tailor deck. His added ability is corner case, but could be handy once in a while. Armin Brenner ani obf CEL FOR POT PRE 10 Archbishop of Washington, D.C. When a referendum Armin calls passes, you gain 1 pool He is probably going to be the backbone of any Brujah Antitribu vote deck. He has it all. All the needed skills superior, a title, obfuscate to keep those votes from being blocked (Forgotten labyrinth is your friend) and one kick ass ability. Add some bewitching orations, awe's and voter captivations and you have a well oiled pool gain engine. He even has FOR which enables him to do multiple actions in a turn. So overall, he is worth every pool you have to spend on him. Axel von Anders cel obf pot PRE 5 Axel will most likely be splashed into a presence stealth bleed deck, or into a stealth vote deck as a filler. Minor potence and celerity doesn't make it worthwhile to put him into any deck that focuses on combat. Bela Kardoza ani dom CEL POT PRE VIC 10 During a referendum, Bela may burn x blood to get x additional votes Another big vampire which will do great in a vote deck. With her build in awe she can push any vote that needs to be pushed, use a voter captivation to fill he up again and do it all again next turn. A must in any vote deck. DeSalle CEL POT PRE 7 When DeSalle is acting, a Sabbat vampire may burn 1 blood to get +1 intercept once that action. +1 stealth. With all the clan skills superior and an added +1 stealth this vampire is just great. The disadvantage is not that big since it only works for sabbat vampires, and making a vampire loose a blood to create a "normal" action is never a bad thing. Father Juan Carlos aus cel pot thau PRE 6 During a bleed action, Father Juan may burn a blood to get -1 bleed and +1 stealth. Another Brujah Antitribu with Auspex. Combine him with Doctor Streck and Mariano Pomposo and you have a solid base to include some auspex into your deck to be able to block those nasty +1 stealth actions. His ability is great in a presence bleed deck but is otherwise wasted. Off course he could be put into a Tremere presence deck, but since this is the !Brujah newsletter I leave that to someone else. Hektor for CEL POT PRE QUI 9 Priscus Damage from Hektor's hand strikes is aggravated. Baali get +1 bleed when bleeding you. Aggravated hand damage...could there be a better reason? His disadvantage can be neglected as there aren't a lot of Baali players. Only disadvantage is that he is a 9 cap. Looking at his disciplines there are a few options for him. He could be a multi rusher (although he needs a skill card to make it work), setting range with a superior Selective Silence, hitting for 5 aggravated and amaranth afterwards. His Priscus vote can save him from the blood hunt although it does get tricky when there are multiple votes on the table. His priscus title will make him fit into a vote deck, combined with Dog's of War, or being made Templar, this can be one nasty vampire. Jacques Molay obf val CEL POT PRE 9 Jacques may enter combat with and ally or younger vampire as a D action. +1 strength. +1 strength is nice, and the built in rush is great, but he is a 9 cap and there are better vampires out there who are cheaper and will replace him in a second (Beast, Theo Bell and even Amalia, just to name a few (and if it wasn't for the grouping rule)). I think he won't see much play the way he is now. If he had a title, that would be something completely different. Then he would be put into almost any vote deck as a great punisher. Lord Aaron Wesley Wilkshire ani obf CEL POT PRE 8 Black Hand. Frenzy cards played on Aaron cost an additional blood or pool. This is another !Brujah with obfuscate opening up some options. They are to big to be the base of a sneak bleed 'n bruise deck (starting with a cap of 5) so the only thing remains is a stealth vote deck. Two vampires have votes and the rest has superior presence. You will need a lot of vote push to make this work though. But he is still an 8 cap with all clan disciplines superior and some useful out of clan disciples that allow him to line up with the nosferatu perfectly. Patrick pre POT 4 A small capacity vampire with superior potence is always good, to bad he has minor presence instead of celerity, but I guess that would make him to powerful. Still he would do great in a weenie potence deck and can also be used as a filler in a Iron glare vote deck. Rodrigo pot pre qui CEL 5 Being a 5 cap with 1 superior and 3 non superior disciplines makes this a great vampire. It is another !Brujah with quietus, maybe there are up to something... Smash pot pre 3 Smash is just a basic vampire, no weird disciplines, no ability, no disadvantage, just Smash. He will do great in a weenie potence deck but he can be splashed into any !Brujah deck. Urraca pre ANI CEL POT 7 Bishop While you control the Edge, Urraca gets +1 bleed. Great crossover vampire, her superior animalism makes her a great ally for the Nosferatu and !Nosferatu, especially since there a coming more and more nossies with presence, Her ability is great, and she has a Bishop Title. And all of this on just a 7 cap. Great vampire. Library Cards Dogs of War Political If this referendum passes, put this card in play. Any Brujah Antitribu may enter combat with a ready minion as a D action. You may burn this card to cancel a blood hunt called on a Brujah Antitribu. Any vampire may call a referendum to burn this card as a +1 stealth political action. This card is just awesome for obvious reasons. It has become card of the month. =================================== 3. Card of the Month I will try to pick a card of the month each newsletter. This month's card of the month is: Dogs of War Political If this referendum passes, put this card in play. Any Brujah Antitribu may enter combat with a ready minion as a D action. You may burn this card to cancel a blood hunt called on a Brujah Antitribu. Any vampire may call a referendum to burn this card as a +1 stealth political action. Since the Brujah antitribu are more and more focusing on votes this card could save a lot of card slots by replacing several rush cards. Combine this with Frontal Assault and Yawp court and you barely have to play any rush cards at all. It is a must have in any vote 'n bruise deck. =================================== 4. Deck of the Month Third Edition gave us a new pre-con and this deck will feature as this edition's Deck of the Month. Title: !Brujah pre-constructed Author: White-Wolf Crypt(12) 2x Armin Brenner 2x Hektor 1x Marcel de Breau 2x Urraca 1x Shawnda Dorrit 2x Father Juan Carlos 1x Alessandro Garcia 1x Smash Library(77) Master (10) 1x Amusement Park Hunting Ground 2x Blood doll 1x Celerity 1x Creepshow Casino 1x Dummy Corporation 1x London Evening Star, Tabloid Newspaper 1x Potence 1x Secret Horde 1x Toy Chest Test Action(1) 1x Aranthebes, The Immortal Action Modifier(16) 2x Alacrity 1x Aura of Invincibility 5x Bewitching Oration 3x Bribes 3x Iron Glare 2x Voter Captivation Political Action(13) 1x Consanguineous Boon 1x Crusade: Detroit 1x Crusade: Rome 1x Disputed Territory 1x Dogs of War 6x Kine Resources Contested 1x Reinforcements 1x Sabbat Priest Reaction(3) 2x On the Qui Vive 1x Vendetta Combat(28) 3x Acrobatics 1x Burning Wrath 1x Fast Hands 5x Flash 2x Increased Strength 1x Mighty Grapple 3x Nimble Feet 3x Stunt Cycle 2x Taste of Vitae 2x Torn Signpost 5x Undead Strength Equipment(4) 2x Leather Jacket 1x Sengir Dagger 1x Starshell Grenade Launcher Combo(2) 2x Scalpel Tongue This pre-con is heavily focused on votes. Voting is your means of ousting your prey, but with only six KRC's you have to be very careful when to call them. Also the combat section is a little low on potence, it could do with some more torn signposts and I still can't believe that there are no immortal grapple's in there. Alacrity is an unexpected way of gaining stealth since normally nobody would play that card because of the two(!) blood it costs. The deck is trying to be a vote 'n bruise deck, but comes a bit to short on both sides. It really needs some modifications to be able to work although you might be able to get a victory point when you are lucky. =================================== 5. Last Words This concludes this months edition of the Brujah Antitribu Newsletter. I hope you have enjoyed it and like stated above, all feedback is welcome. Remember however that this is the first time I am writing a newsletters and that I know I need to improve on various points. But this will come when I get more experience and get deeper and deeper into the !Brujah. Kind Regards, Paul Wiggers
