This is a deck I've been playing with and tuning for a bit, and I
just realised it's fairly simple to make storyline-legal. So I'm
opening it up for comments.
Deck Name: Seasick Bill
Created By: Gomi no Sensei
Description: 'Seasick Bill' -- Hurling Gates! HAW HAW Geddit?! DOM/POT
Thought Betrayed/Increased Strength/Thrown Gate bruise/bleed deck.
It's fun!
Crypt: (12 cards, Min: 25, Max: 36, Avg: 7.92)
----------------------------------------------
1 Chas Giovanni Tello DOM POT 4, Giovanni
1 Marianna aus DOM nec POT THA 8, Giovanni

1 Antonio Delgado DOM OBT POT tha 9, Lasombra, Archbishop
1 Marty Lechtansi ani DOM for OBF POT 9, Nosferatu, Primogen
Everybody here has DOM and POT. Neither are negotiable -- dom is
pointless for Thoughts Betrayed, and inferior Increased Strength +
Thrown Gate is just sad. There are 7 Giovanni with DOM and POT, 4 of
which are already here. Add Augustus, Regina, and Silvia, a second
Gillespi and Ambrogino, and that's 9 Giovanni. Storyline city. Fill
out with Constanza, Donal, and Lisette. Bumps the average capacity a
bit, but you weren't planning on getting more than 2 minions out
anyway.

Master (15 cards)
2 Barrens, The
3 Blood Doll
2 Dreams of the Sphinx
3 Minion Tap
4 Special Report
1 Sudden Reversal
I have been getting the feeling that there's a bit too much cyclage
in here, so I could see my way clear to dropping a Barrens and a
Report for 2 Wakes.
Minion (75 cards)
10 Conditioning
3 Deflection
4 Govern the Unaligned
12 Increased Strength
3 Kindred Coercion
2 Pulling Strings
2 Redirection
6 Relentless Pursuit
12 Taste of Vitae
10 Thoughts Betrayed
11 Thrown Gate
The 'main loop' here is bleed, dropping Conditioning if not blocked,
dropping a Thoughts, Increased, Gate, Taste combat otherwise. Smack
for 4 is nontrivial, and depending on the Increased flow, could be 6
or 8. Relentless Pursuit is freaking excellent here, as it works right
when you need it -- those times when you've dropped a couple of
Increased Strengths hunting for a Gate, and haven't found one.
The Governs are there for pool gain or a quick oust if needed.
Given that there are 15 votes in the crypt, I'm not sure how much
vote defence I really need here, but Storylining the deck drops the
total votes in the crypt to 10, not so good.
Things I want to make room for:
Fame
Tension in the Ranks
maybe 4 High Ground
between 4 and 6 Change of Target
So that's a bare minimum of 10 cards to pitch, and I honestly don't
know what to lose. The main loop is just barely reliable enough as it
is; I really think dropping to 9 or 8 copies of each is going to hose
the threat level.
What this deck gets screwed by:
cel/pot maneuver to close + grapple. not too worried here, don't see
too much of it. maneuver to close without grapple, at least I get
my own strike off, and TB hoses most non-pot stuff.
Deflection. Hm. This is a problem. Change of Target at least gets me
to not get in a fight with or bleed my grandprey, but of course I'm
still out the Conditioning. I tried addressing it with Contingency
Planning, but it just blows too much. Add Misdirections to tap
Deflectors? Havens/Rushes to pound Deflectors? Non-trivial problem.
It's not like Deflection is unheard-of in the tournament environment.
Given that two Giovanni have THA, and I could sub in Antonio Delgado
(tha) for one of the 3 offclan dudes, I could see one or two Perfect
Clarities. Kind of prayerish tho.

The idea is: For a single round, Glaser Rounds is better than Manstopper
Rounds if you have more than 1 additional strike (superior Blur):
Saturday Night Special
Glaser Manstopper
1 initial strike 2 initial strike
3 second strike 2 second
3 third strike 2 third
-------------------------------------
7 damage 6 damage
And it's just as good (1+3 v. 2+2) with only one additional strike.
Pressing to additional rounds in the same combat just widens the
difference, of course.
Pro (glaser): Doesn't get used if opponent SCEs
Con: Dead card without additional strike, or at least a press, in hand
Glaser Rounds don't see much use, so I'm trying to build around it as
a concept thing. We'll see how it works. I might add more Covenants in
a more Camarilla-heavy environment, but FN and Bloodlines mean we see
less of them than we used to.

Notes on Construction
My original aim here was to make an effective Nos vote deck. Along the
way, the plain usefulness of 2nd Tradition to block, plus 4th and 5th
Traditions, morphed things into the toolbox direction. Once I noticed
how many of the Nos Princes (and the Justicar) have Fortitude, all
pretence of focus was abandoned in favor of total toolboxitude.
Notes on Play
The deck needs cycling. The Tombs weren't as useful as the Highways.
The deck has a LOT of bloat, and would benefit from a little less.
Two Fourth Traditions, one Fifth, and one Tap will be cut.
As a result of the bloat, the Parity Shifts were rarely playable.
The Bloodhunts were never useful (I'd thought to use them to cut
deals with combat decks) and will be pared to 1 or pitched entirely.
Off the cuff edit:
Replace both Tombs with Highways. (0)
Cut two Fourth Traditions, one Fifth Tradtion, and one Minion Tap (-4)
Cut two Bloodhunts (-2)
Cut one Parity Shift (-1)
Add two Barrens (+2)
Add one Death of my Conscience (+1)
Add two Freak Drives (+2)
Replace two Computer Hackings with Tasha Morgan, J.S. Simmons (0)
Add one Kindred Intelligence (+1)
Add one Succubus Club (+1)
Total: 80 cards, as before.

This one is 70 cards, because it was designed in the middle of that "smaller

table, got 1 VP in another 4player, and got 3VP in a third 4player. It
then got 0VP over 2 games at the tournament. Shittagoddam.
Small-deck observation: When they clump, they clump like a mofo.

Play Notes: Cardano is the blood machine. Minion Tap/Fifth, Governs
and Fourths -- potentially 11 pool gain in 1 turn with an I-Way out (8
from MT, 3 transferred off a Govern/Fourth). Arcane Library for backup.
Defend with Elysium/Secure/Obedience. Grow lots of pool, get lots of
allies that can bleed, bleed with them. If they die (and it seems likely),
get 'em back with Compel -- and they can bleed again that turn!
Weaknesses: Intercept. Pretty much no way to deal with it. I could chuck
some of the GtU/Fourths (which are just gravy compared to the MT/5th) for
Seductions or even Alacrities. My current metagame seems low on intercept,
though. Killing Cardano will, of course, shut me down -- and with the
heavy pool gain, perhaps less Deflection and more Obedience and/or Wakes
+ more Metro Underground -- it's reasonably important that Cardano be untapped
to defend himself.
It's a cute goofy-ass deck. Comments?

This deck's performed nicely in playtests and an actual game, but extra

Play Notes: This deck flows like nothing I've played before, even Cel/Pot
Brujah. A third to a half the deck is out 2 to 3 turns after Wynn hits the
table. It's permanent-heavy (working reasonably well even under Thoughts
Betrayed) and has countermeasures against most combat defenses: the retainers
get around Skin of Steel, Dog Packs for S:CE, and Scorpion Stings for Dodges.
So far, everything shows up with reasonable dispatch due to high cardflow.
It is, however, hosed by Elysium (silly me, making a combat deck without
accounting for Elysium). So I'm probably going to make room for an
Arson and a Sudden Reversal (which will mark the first time I've put
*that* into a deck).
The heavy permanent presence also means the deck has more staying
power than most combat decks; once it's run out of cards, Wynn has 2 or
3 retainers, a dogpack, 2 hand damage, a maneuver and a press each combat,
and (natch) built-in rush -- pretty good in an endgame environment.
Freak Drives and action costs tend to empty Wynn out quickly, hence the
Tastes (which I rarely use) and Gird Minions. Usually, I'm only bringing
out Wynn, and even with Chandler, that's only 13 pool on minions --
competitive vs. weenie-based combat decks.
Well, that's the theory behind the deck. Y'all are invited to nitpick
and comment now.

and 3 more Counters plus 3 more Misdirections would help Isabel stave
off the first few assaults. Take advantage of different types of rush
actions to get around No Repeat Action restrictions and thug vampires
left and right, untapping with Rutor's Hand or Precognizant Mobilities
courtesy of Isabel. The Hunting Ground's there for Isabel -- the Amr
should get plenty of blood from Thefts. Even with 9 Psyche!s, S:CE is
likely to be a problem.

De Novem Portia Umbrarum Regni
I've always liked the Giovanni. They kind of suck, but it's a Xian/Tremere
thing. So here's a nec/dom/for stupid thing for your amusement and possible
edification. As a side note for another thread, this deck would go from
'Amusing Toy' to 'Utter Monster' with an as-printed Return to Innocence.
Play Notes: This one's kind of weird. I'm not used to playing Necromancy,
where the ash heap's a resource. I kept thinking, 'darn, I wish I could
draw another X,' when there was an X _right in the ash heap_ that I could
get at. This deck is a great poster child(e) for Storage Annex, with its
weird little brittle combos.
CRYPT
3x Regina Giovanni, The Right Hand of Augustus (aus DOM for NEC POT)
3x Carlotta Giovanni (dom NEC obf POT)
3x Vittorio Giovanni (dom for nec pot)
3x Rudolpho Giovanni (NEC)
Crypt Notes: This is a big crypt. I expect to rarely, if ever, use a
Govern the Unaligned to actually bleed with. Rudolpho is kind of misleading,
since you won't ever bring him out first -- you don't want him around until
there's a bigger vampire out, ideally in your ash heap already.
Best 15, worst 22, average 6.25. Hefty.
Library:
3 Storage Annex
1 Elder Library
2 Secure Haven
4 Fortitude

2 Info Highway
1 Tomb of Ramses III
17 Masters. I'd want one more Storage Annex, and one more Elder Library,
and a Dreams of the Sphinx, and a Barrens, but damned if I know what to cut
to make room. A Fortitude, a Dominate, an Info Highway, and a Secure Haven,
I guess, but that's, um...I dunno. Maybe the Secure Haven can go. Suggestions?
Necromancy
6 Possession

3 Skin of Rock
3 Resilience
4 Restoration

Clan Toys: Giovanni
1 Leonardo, Mortician
1 Guiseppe, Gravedigger
Equipment
2 Soul Gem of Etrius
Typically, Vittorio winds up being the monkey. A dead Vittorio
gets Possessed out (1/5), takes a Restoration (3/5), then
Force of Will bleeds (2/5) with Conditioning (1/5) and either
Daring the Dawn or Day Operation (0/5 or 1/5, depending). He
then takes 2 aggravated damage (if using Day Operation) or 4
aggravated damage (if using Daring the Dawn). Unblockable bleed
for 4. He can then get Possessed out and do it again, since dead
vampires repeat no actions. Carlotta and Regina use Govern the
Unaligned for mondo pool gain when they're not out Possessing.
Deck Issues
Paradoxically for an unblockable-bleed deck, intercept's a
problem. Possession is at 0 stealth, there's only one Guiseppe,
and Spectral Divination is expensive. I might try my hand at
Day Opping the Possessions, send everyone to torpor, and diablerize, then
Possessing them back into play. Possibly adding Gaspare/Hand of Conrad
to return the dead to the uncontrolled area. Rapid Healing might be a
win-win -- unblocked, the vampire gets out of torpor, tapped, ready to Force
of Will. Blocked, the vampire might get diablerized, and become Possession
bait.

Cardano, Real Estate Mogul
Yet another in the tradition of Stupid Single Vampire Decks.
While I've made monovampiric decks based on Wynn and Al-Ashrad
in the past, this is the third deck based on Cardano alone,
confirming Xian's hunch that we are all, each one of us,
Cardano's Bitch.
How it plays:
Cardano Blood Bonds to every vampire at the table, supplemented
by Incriminating Videotapes. He then Pulses successive unable-to-block
preys to death.
In theory. This approach is, of course, wide open to the many ways a
single-vampire deck can get hosed -- combat, Banishment, Pentex Subversion,
many others. It's a work-outrageously-well or fail-utterly sort of thing.
And hey, it might work well.

How it plays
Well, I don't know. I just came up with it a few minutes ago. The idea is
to bring out Cardano (who is going to be spending blood recklessly, so
no Tombs, more's the pity), Govern/Fourth out Black Cat, and get Pier 13
on Black Cat for the free Incriminating Videotapes. Lots of different actions,
so Cardano can potentially get a lot of stuff done. Ankara Citadel is high-
priority, to get the free Freak Drives/Governs/Accountings and cheap Pulse.
Lots of moving parts -- definitely a toy deck, not a serious contender.
But god, the fun.
Things it could use:
-Signet of King Saul. I don't own any.
-Defence of any sort. No room for blood bounce or intercept or Obedience.

Individually, I love you all with affection unspeakable; but, collectively,
I look upon you with a disgust that amounts to absolute detestation.
