Atom Weaver's Deck Bashing Challenge
A deck that answers the challenge
For the newbie who doesn't mind learning the hard way when to rush, when
to bleed, when to stay untapped and when to suck it up, I present:
2 Akunanse starters!
by "Matthew T. Morgan" - farquar // at \\ io dot com
Crypt:
3 Uchenna ABO ANI FOR 7, Akunanse, magaji
3 Amavi pre pro ABO ANI FOR 8, Akunanse
2 Sanjo abo chi ANI FOR 6, Akunanse
2 Meno Ngari abo 2, Akunanse
2 Dolie abo ani 3, Akunanse
I've dropped Kamiri wa Ithero. He just doesn't bring enough to this party
for 10 pool. A few vamps from the booster packs like Nkule, Jubal and
Hasani will greatly enhance this crypt.
Library: (90 cards)
Master (16 cards)
2 Abombwe
1 Barrens, The
6 Blood Doll
1 Effective Management
1 Jungle Hunting Ground
1 KRCG News Radio
2 Life in the City
1 Major Boon
1 Sudden Reversal
Doubled the Abombwe cards (since half the crypt only has abo) and the
Blood Dolls (best card in the deck). Dropped the sketchy Parthenon (trade
it to another noob) + Secret Horde tech, complicated Rotschreck and highly
situational Vox Domini. Major Boon is also maybe a bit complex for a new
player and would be a good candidate to swap if keeping Rotschreck is
desired.
Action (14 cards)
1 Army of Rats
6 Computer Hacking
6 Harass
1 Tier of Souls
Army of Rats and Tier of Souls can't really be defended very well with the
stupid Rats' Warning, so there's only one of each. Doubled Computer
Hackings and Harass. Harass has better synergy with the press combat
Abombwe features and it's not that likely there will be a lack of targets.
If copies of Nkule can be acquired to go with Uchenna, a few No Secrets
From the Magaji will really improve this deck.
Action Modifier (12 cards)
4 Devil-Channel: Throat
4 Freak Drive
4 Predator`s Mastery
Dawn Operation ranges from problematic to useless. Rarely will it find a
happy medium in constructed play. Better to double the Freaks.
Political Action (0 cards)
Yeah. This isn't a vote deck.
Reaction (8 cards)
4 Instinctive Reaction
4 Rat`s Warning
This deck would be greatly enhanced by including a fistfull of Predator's
Communion. A newbie Akunanse player should make haste to acquire several
of these very useful commons. Also, I wish the Instinctive Reactions were
Cats' Guidance. Since they aren't, I'll just add one. Unseen Hibernation
is too prayerish.
Combat (36 cards)
2 Canine Horde
4 Carrion Crows
4 Devil-Channel: Hands
8 Invoking the Beast
6 Rolling with the Punches
4 Skin of Steel
4 Song of Serenity
4 Unflinching Persistence
I doubled everything except the Devil-Channel: Hands (4 seem sufficient).
This is actually quite a good selection of combat, but 20 cards is a
little lean for a fighty constructed deck. Some Tastes of Vitae (4 or so)
would be great here, but they aren't available in any booster packs that
are currently in print. The 3rd Edition !Brujah starter is currently the
best place to get them.
Ally (0 cards)
Gregory Winter is a great card, but I'm not seeing the synergy here.
Retainer (1 cards)
1 Owl Companion
The owl is nice. Ravens would be better. At any rate, one should be
plenty.
Equipment (2 cards)
1 Laptop Computer
1 Reliquary: Akunanse Remains
Bleed permanents are a great plan in a deck that has Freak Drives. I'd be
tempted to add a second Laptop, but by my count, I've just hit 90 cards.
Combo (1 cards)
1 Akunanse Kholo
It doesn't really help the principle goal of the deck, but it's too good
not to include.
