Q1: How (and when) did you begin your career as a VTES-player? Who introduced you to the game? Where did you play originally? I was introduced to Jyhad a few weeks after the game was released in 1994 and after one look at Thrown Gate - I knew this game was vastly different from anything else I had seen at that time. Looking back, I'm not sure why Thrown Gate caught me so completely but I'm really glad it did! Jason Strayer introduced me to the game and we played anywhere we could. |
Q2: Which of the Sets and Expansions to VTES is your favorite, and why is it your top choice? For me, Final Nights edges out Ancient Hearts by a step. The reason why FN is so dear to me is that Scott Johnson graciously allowed me to assist him in designing the set. I've always loved the Independent clans and seeing them finally become truly playable filled a long dream of mine. Ancient Hearts had a wonderful overall feel to the set but having the unique opportunity to witness the multitude of steps needed to take a set from the design phase to the release party is absolutely priceless. |

Q3: What is your favorite deck to play, and why? Recently, I've really enjoyed playing around with decks centered on Blood Agony. One of these flavors of death can be found at www.thepathofblood.com/deckscontent.php?id=39 |
Q4: If you could add something to the game, what would it be? Definitely a Kindred of the East expansion. |
|
Q5: What do you do to help promote the game / why are you in this list of people? Oh dear, where do I even begin? For the most part, I have helped promote the game from behind the scenes but...I've served as the Prince of Atlanta for 5 or 6 years and hosted a ton of demos and tourneys. I was in charge of keeping track of everyone's tourney ratings and coordinating all event support for a little over two years. No one outside of a couple of people will ever fully understand just how much work this job takes on a daily basis. I have tremendous respect for everyone that works behind the scenes in order to keep the V: TES community going. As mentioned earlier, I had the privilege to help design the Final Nights expansion. I wrote the Assamite newsletter for a couple of years. I run the Assamite website www.thepathofblood.com and I have to admit that I am mighty proud of it! As far as I know, no one else has ever created such an in-depth look into a particular clan as this one. If you are interested in the Children of Haqim, this is the place for you. |
Q6: What is your favorite deck style for casual play / tournament play? My favorite deck style for casual play is anything Assamite related! As for a tourney environment, I enjoy playing political decks and all of the table politics that go along with them. |
|
Q7: Is there a difference between your casual play and tournament play? Absolutely! I find myself trying out very goofy/oddball things when playing around with my friends - things like building an Assamite deck that turns Qadir ul-Ghani into a Ventrue and a Daughters of Cacophony. Ever seen an Assamite deck use Necromancy or Serpentis? Yep, I've even done that! In tourneys, I tend to play a lot more focussed decks with sound strategies - but I still like to surprise players from time to time. |
