Stephen "The Evil One" Buonocore 1961 Systems Engineer EVERYTHING! Well, particularly D&D, V:TM, lots of non-CCG card games and board games, and in the past CCGs like M:TG. Uncountable. For V:TES, it's probably about 25,000. Lots of other CCGs too. These days, unknown. New Jersey area |

Q1: How (and when) did you begin your career as a VTES-player? Who introduced you to the game? Where did you play originally? Introduced myself, with the assistance of other friends. Started playing in 1995, then stopped for 3 years. Picked it back up with the group known as The Jersey Jyhad. All of this, of course, going on in north/central New Jersey. |
Q2: Which of the Sets and Expansions to VTES is your favorite, and why is it your top choice? Sabbat. It has always had a mystique about it, especially as it was impossible to get for a while, though I managed to find many boxes of it. |
|
Q3: What is your favorite deck to play, and why? Ventrue vote deck (no specific link on-line). Voting and negotiating is the best part of this great game. Being able to manipulate the votes and the table is the epitome of the Jyhad, and it's the most interesting part of the game. It's also the most social part of a very social game. |
Q4: If you could add something to the game, what would it be? The ability to learn it quickly and easily! It's a game with a steep learning curve, and it's difficult to get players into the game... which is why The Jersey Jyhad fell apart... :( |

Q5: What do you do to help promote the game / why are you in this list of people? 1. THE ARCHON:My biggest claim to fame in the V:TES world is that I am the creator of The Archon (the tool for the reporting of sanctioned V:TES tournaments to the V:EKN). This was the first tool that implemented all of the original tournament scoring rules (from Wizards of the Coast's DCI Ruling Body), which I then ported to use the V:EKN's sanctioned tournament rules when the V:EKN took over. 2. LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN: I am also responsible for the original "Letter Writing Campaign", where we got about 300 letters sent to Wizards of the Coast, in the hope of getting more support from them, getting cards reprinted, and getting new sets created. Simultaneously with this (and unbeknownst to us), White Wolf began negotiating to get the rights back from WotC, which they did of course, and our letters may have been part of the reason that White Wolf was so eager to get the game back in print (i.e. the very loyal fan base). 3. ORIGINAL JYHAD ARTWORK: I probably own more of the original Jyhad artwork than any other (non-artist) person. I own about 15 pieces of the original Jyhad artwork, notably the work of Dan Smith, Jeff Menges, Melissa Benson, and others. 4. LARGEST TOURNAMENTS IN THE US: When I was running sanctioned tournaments, I was drawing the largest tournaments in the US, drawning people from as far away as Atlanta and Montreal. For instance, my Sabbat Sealed deck tournament drew 30 participants, and this was only constrained by the amount of sealed product that I could get (since Sabbat was out of print for 3+ years at that point). I also had 65 participants in the Sabbat War Pre-Release tournament. There were many other tournaments with large attendance as well, which were (in their time) the largest tournaments that were occurring in the US. NOTE: At the moment... I'm sort of... retired... from V:TES play, unfortunately. There is just too much other 'stuff' going on in my life. In the future, I hope to pick it up again... |
Q6: What is your favorite deck style for casual play / tournament play? Casual Play: Vote DeckTournament Play: Bleed Deck General Mayhem: Combat Deck |
|
Q7: Is there a difference between your casual play and tournament play? Sure. In casual play, I will play anything that interests me. It's just for fun. In tournament play, there is the aspect of WINNING that comes into play, so I want to play something that has a CHANCE of winning (though my Rating will show that I don't have much success with that)... :) |
