Q1: How (and when) did you begin your career as a VTES-player? Who introduced you to the game? Where did you play originally?

I started with a small friend playgroup back in 1994, in Montreuil (paris suburbs). The mechanics were very complicated at that time (at least for a ccg) but the variety and intriguing politics concepts seduced all of us. We were delighted to discover Dark Sovereign and the european vampires a year later =)

Q2: Which of the Sets and Expansions to VTES is your favorite, and why is it your top choice?

The Original Sabbat was the introduction of very strong vampires, "last hope tactics" cards like Daring the dawn, and cards which changed the face of combat : Carrion Crows, Disarm, Pushing the limit, Coma... And some strong allies for a change. My second favorite may be final night which finally give the independants what they deserve : new vampires ! also enticement, daemonic possession, mirror image or thin blood are the kind of gems we were waiting for.

Q3: What is your favorite deck to play, and why?

I would say : deck that uses Guns because i always thought ranged combat add something big to the game. I don't really have a single favorite deck. I like trying many different things. One kind of deck i don't enjoy is intercept wall decks which don't go forward in any manner. Putting pressure on your prey is one of the mechanics i love in this game.

Q4: If you could add something to the game, what would it be?

New politics strategies. New vehicles. Vampires burnables for a pitch-effect -ie : burn Smith-the-pander to gain an additional master phase, this kind of stuff...

Q5: What do you do to help promote the game / why are you in this list of people?

In the past i lend my whole stock of card to a playgroup of 5 persons, some of them eventually bought their own cards and started to attend tournaments. I also usually give large amounts of cards to the newbies =) Aside from that, i can't really be proud of any particular achievement. There can be only Jeff thompson anyway ;)

Q6: What is your favorite deck style for casual play / tournament play?

For casual play : Toolboxy, definetly. For tournament, i tend to focus more -but i try to maintain room for "emergency" cards which will bring hope to an already lost game, a couple of golcondas, a political stranglehold even if i have no voters in my deck (you never know) or a single Vulnerability...

Q7: Is there a difference between your casual play and tournament play?

The difference is very small. That's why i'm not a good tournament player, i guess =p I often attend tournaments with my casual decks, and sometime it works like a charm. The only thing i do is tweak them by removing 'fun' cards and putting 'tournament caliber' cards. (i.e. remove a Revelation of the sire to put another D.I)
