Q1: How (and when) did you begin your career as a VTES-player? Who introduced you to the game? Where did you play originally? Back in the winter of 1994 when I lived in Omaha, Nebraska, there was this woman that I worked with and secretly was interested in (alas, she was engaged) that had her hair dyed three different colors, black, blonde and red. She knew I played the Vampire RPG and asked me if I was interested in hanging out with her and her friends and playing a card game about vampires. For multiple obvious reasons, I agreed. After playing a Malkavian S&B deck, I was hooked. I went on to play regularly on Thursday nights at Ground Zero in Bellevue, NE where I met Michael Eichler. |
Q2: Which of the Sets and Expansions to VTES is your favorite, and why is it your top choice? Jyhad. It's an oldy, but a goody. |
Q3: What is your favorite deck to play, and why? My favorite deck to play is my "Vertigo" deck, a Malkavian politics deck using Madness Network with KRC, Reversal of Fortune, Dramatic Upheaval, Anarch Revolts and Malkavian Pranks. It's my favorite because it confuses people and it's very good at table control. |
Q4: If you could add something to the game, what would it be? A coke and a smile. That and a creative inspiration that the game seems to be lacking now. It's like the design team is just going through the motions now. |
Q5: What do you do to help promote the game / why are you in this list of people? Well, it was probably my involvement with NJL Rules team to keep VTES going in Michigan during the 7/7 aftermath that got me to be a notable. More recently, time isn't on my side, so I tend to organize local games when it's not football season and run tournaments for special events, like pre-releases and storylines. |
Q6: What is your favorite deck style for casual play / tournament play? I prefer trick decks that confuse people so much that they don't know how to defend against them. Outside of that, I generally favor standard archetypes (S&B, Vote, Rush combat, Intercept Combat) with interesting twists. |
Q7: Is there a difference between your casual play and tournament play? No. I'm willing to experiment in either format. |
