Q1: How (and when) did you begin your career as a VTES-player? Who introduced you to the game? Where did you play originally? Began playing with some fellow LARPers about when Ancient Hearts came out. I got two Kemintiris early on and kept trying to make something work with her. I can partially blame John Flournoy, though there were others. Played in and around Chicago. |
Q2: Which of the Sets and Expansions to VTES is your favorite, and why is it your top choice? I think I'm morally obligated to say Anarchs. I just love the shift in thinking required for making Anarchs effective. |
Q3: What is your favorite deck to play, and why? Reformation of the Church of St. Eris (see Anarch Newsletter, June 2004). I giggle maniacally whenever I play it, because people who haven't seen it before are so confused, and people who have are just annoyed. It demonstrates the incredible versatility of the Anarch paradigm, and it's just fun to play. |
Q4: If you could add something to the game, what would it be? I know many would disagree with me on this, but S:CE for Obfuscate. It could be only at superior, and it could even cost a blood, but the flavor of the discipline in the World of Darkness says that I should be able to escape combat with it. Press to end is not sufficient. |
Q5: What do you do to help promote the game / why are you in this list of people? Aside from being Prince of Chicago (and having run the 2004 Great Lakes Regional Qualifier), I am best known as "that Anarch guy." I have written eight Anarch newsletters, and frequently post online discussing Anarch tech and strategy. I also try to make some comment for every anarch deck posted to the newsgroup. |
Q6: What is your favorite deck style for casual play / tournament play? Flexible. I used to play toolboxes exclusively, but now with Anarchs I can play decks that are "focused with options," in that they tend to do one thing but can do another in a pinch. When I do mono-clan it tends to be with under-represented clans or bloodlines. |
Q7: Is there a difference between your casual play and tournament play? Not really. My best tournament play generally occurs when my deck is familiar to me. It's not that I have to tweak my decks a lot to make them viable, but rather that I have to get into the rhythm of the deck. |
