Q1: How (and when) did you begin your career as a VTES-player? Who introduced you to the game? Where did you play originally? A friend introduced me to the game in the mid 90's ('95 I think). I did not really play all that much then, but got into it with the release of Sabbat. I then purchased some Ancient Hearts and Dark Sovereigns and Jyhad which were on special. I got a booster box of Vampire as I wanted to have a full set. Originally we played at my place in Queanbeyan. |
Q2: Which of the Sets and Expansions to VTES is your favorite, and why is it your top choice? Disarm and Decapitate is my favourite combo at the moment, and so Sabbat/War are my favourite sets. I also like those sets for the City Gangrel & Tzimisce, which other clans that I really like. |
Q3: What is your favorite deck to play, and why? I like playing a superior POTENCE deck that uses Beast/Theo/Menele, with 4 caps with POT, and 2 caps with pot. The deck rushes a lot, immortal grapples a lot, punches for 11 a lot, and hates skin of steel a lot. Failing prevention it disarms and decapitates. Before or after the taste of vitae. For long range, it likes Thrown Lids, and uses a lot of increased strength and torn signpost.More combat should be part of the scene, as it is a good part of the game. |
Q4: If you could add something to the game, what would it be? More players. This is the best game on the planet. |
Q5: What do you do to help promote the game / why are you in this list of people? Apart from the types of decks I play at Championships, I try to add some fun to every event I go to. I like helping locals complete sets they are after, organising cheaper cards, cheaper events, events with beer.[Editor's note: Dominic is the first repeat Continental Champion in the history of the V:EKN. He is the back to back champion for Australia, 2003-2004.] WW article |
Q6: What is your favorite deck style for casual play / tournament play? I like to play decks casually that will make me work hard to win. In my mind there is no point playing some killer deck against someone's starter deck. In tournaments, I like to play differing decks, with slightly differing focus, at each event. I like fast decks, as there is nothing worse than timing out. I like to create decks that will oust it's first victim on turn 3, no later than turn 5. I would love to create a combat deck that could do this... |
Q7: Is there a difference between your casual play and tournament play? YES. I do not mind losing casually. I do so quite often. |
