Hi ! i'm working on special rules for an unsanctionned tournament. I want to have your comments, adn if possible your experience if you're okay to try this variant with friends. I'll play test it with my playgroup in the following weeks. Thank you for reading ;) -- Protect the Elders is an alternate rule to play Vampire : the eternal struggle. In this game, each player is in charge of making his clan/bloodline succeed in destroying the influence of rival clans/bloodlines.This variant implies a special rule in crypt and deck construction. A player must have almost all the vampires in his crypt to come from the unique clan he chooses to represent. The crypt is composed of 10 different vampires from the same clan, albeit you can put up to 3 caitiffs/pander in your crypt. Caitiff and pander are the same under those rules. Clans/bloodlines which have less than 10 different clan members are allowed to put duplicates in their crypt. Note that neither the « Scarce », nor the grouping rule apply in this variant, so you are free to compose your crypt with all the vampires from jyhad to anarchs as you see fit. The deck itself consists of exactly 70 cards and it may never contain more than 10 cards that requires out of clan disciplines. You may not, for example, put more than 10 protean card in a Brujah deck since their in-clan are POT PRE CEL. You may not put more than a combination of 10 of the following : Read the winds, terror frenzy, army of rats in a toreador deck since those cards requires animalism and the torries in-clan are CEL PRE AUS. So build your deck wisely ;) Each players starts with 20 pool and the highest capacity vampire of his clan already in play. For all the camarilla clans, the highest capacity vampire will be the inner circle. The independant will start with the 11 cap vampire in play. Sabbat clans can start with any of their highest capacity -usually 10cap vampire as long as it is titled. No, Goratrix can't represent the !tremere but Ayelea can. Note : the !gangrel have a special option since their clan is splitted in two discipline mixes. The use of Samantha or Genevieve implies which discipline you choose : cel/pro/obf or ani/for/pro. The vampire already in play when the game begins is called « The Elder ». You start with the elder at full capacity in front of you, and all the 10 vampires in your crypt spread face up but with no blood counters on them. When you influence a vampire, other players can see who's coming in the next turns. The Elder brings you and your clan a hudge advantage : as long as your Elder is ready, all vampires you control burn one less blood when playing cards requiring an inclan discipline, and all master /action cards requiring a member of your clan costs one less pool or blood. The Elder can act as usual, but cannot attempt to bleed as long as your prey's Elder is in play. Protect the Elder : D actions targetting an elder are always at a flat 0 stealth. If, at any time, a D action targets your elder, any of your ready vampires may burn one blood to untap and block. However your elder cannot be diablerized or burned in combat, he is sent to torpor instead. An Elder in torpor cannot be the target of D actions like rescue, graverobbing, diablerie, amam/nephandus built-in or dismemberment of Osiris. When the elder of your prey or predator is in torpor, you may tap your ready Elder to announce a bitter rose ritual : all the blood counters that were on the elder are moved to your ready vampires as you see fit. Then a normal blood hunt occurs exactly as if a diablerie had took place. An elder can be burned in a blood hunt by other methuselah, so be sure to have support from your fellow voters ! *When your elder is in torpor, you burn one additional pool for each successful bleed that harms you.* During your untap phase, you may tap your elder in torpor and either pay one pool or discard a master card to bring him/her in the ready region without additional cost. Revelation of the sire rules : when a caitiff (or pander) enters play on your side, during your next untap phase you *must* tap an older vampire you control from your main clan to give the "revelation of the sire" to the caitiff. Put a revelation counter on this caitiff : he is now a member of your main clan. A caitiff without a revelation of the sire counter may not act or block but may play a reaction card and/or cast their votes. If you influenced out 3 caitiff and have only one ready vampire from the main clan, you must tap him on the consequent untap phases until all your newcomers are part of the main clan. Except for those rules, the games play as the good old jyhad. --- comments welcome ! reyda true_reyda@hotmail.com
