Thanks to Jeff (and also Todd) for hosting another great tournament. I thought it was outstanding that we had Stefan in from Austria, David in from Spain, and players in from Maine, Washington D.C., Texas, Louisiana, Carolinas, etc. Definitely the best regional I've seen so far in Atlanta and I had a great time. I hope everyone found their travel time worth the weekend of play. I had fun with a Nosferatu ranged combat rush deck. Pretty basic deck really, just two CE Nos precons merged and distilled for ranged combat plus a few other CE vamps and master cards thrown in. 1st round was pretty depressing, but then I had to prey on Matt Guin who ended up winning so I guess that's one reason why. Between Elysium and Majesty my rush deck (which lacked S:CE work-arounds but you can't have it all can ya?) was completely shut down going forward, so I basically had to wall up and hope for a seating change or survival VP. Matt ended up offering me a survival VP for not blocking him as he was busy ousting rest of the table and I took that with gratitude. 2nd round wasn't much better. Derek ended up basically running the table with a nasty Setite vote deck. I escaped with one VP and that only due to Eric honoring our alliance against Derek's iminent table sweep to his very last self-ousted pool. 3rd round I got to prey on Conor's Ahrimanes wall deck, while Trey preyed on me with a Nos anti-tribu Potence deck. Ted cross-table dictated the game however with a barrage of Anarch Revolts and weenies that had Trey going upstream the whole first half of the game and all of us watching our pool drain away. Conor got a sniper rifle that seemed to hurt me a lot more than my bats and sewer lids could do to him, but when an Anarch Investigation from Ted more or less sank Conor's game, it set up a bizarre table sweep. Anarch's ousted Conor and then Ted had to succumb to his own revolts, which left Trey and I in a nice thematic Nos vs. Nos anti-tribu battle. Luckily I had 12 extra ousting pool under my belt and even that barely made the difference. So I felt like I got into the final as much by lucky circumstance as skill, but so it goes sometimes. In the final, being low man on the totem pole, I was lucky enough to have Matt Guin, who so successfully shut down my rush in round one, happily position himself as my prey again. Damnation and ruin. Nate preyed on me. So the for me the finals was blocking Nate, moving to range and throwing a ranged strike which he promptly dodged. Even had Tammy with an Ivory Bow but alas all her arrows were dodged. Then moving forward on Matt only to be sent how from Elysium or Majesty. A frustrating final as the whole table was pretty locked down except Ben Spaulding who's Brujah made some headway on David Tatu's pool only to have an imminent VP stolen by Matt with a Kindred Restructure. Even then David hung on against Matt almost until time was called and would have timed out if I had only aided him a bit more, but then I had to find a way to stop David from asking everyone to rescue Zebulon from torpor! ;).
