Ravnos Clan newsletter May 2004
Written by Emile Bosman

Only two more days until the next tournament here in Utrecht and it's
about time the Ravnos let themselves heard again here in Utrecht.
===============================================================================

Introduction:
I've decided to write the Ravnos newsletter since well I really like
the clan and it's been almost a year since the last one came out.
So from now on I'll try to keep up with my writing and produce one
every month or as long as I have inspiration.

Ravnos weenies

In this first NL I would like to take a look at the little people
making up the Ravnos ranks.

Sasha Miklos [DS:V2, FN:PR]
Cardtype: Vampire
Clan: Ravnos
Group: 2
Capacity: 2
Discipline: chi
Independent
Sasha fits into every deck you're using Chimestry in her strength as a
weenie lies in the versatility of Chimestry.
She can stealth, reduce stealth and even survive combat and have hit
back.
Overall she is one of my personal favorite weenie Ravnos.

Zip [BH]
Cardtype: Vampire
Clan: Ravnos
Group: 3
Capacity: 2
Discipline: Ani
Independent
Zip is the only other 2 capacity Ravnos available at the moment and he
has several things going for him.
He's a Sabbat vampire meaning he can use cards like Hungry Coyote or
the Festivo.
These two hunt cards aren't the best thing for a vampire with only two
capacity unless he has two Blood Dolls and he can hunt freely each
turn for two blood.
He is not too bad of a weenie but compared to Sasha he misses her
versatility.

Spleen, Georgio Gutterpunk [FN:U2]
Cardtype: Vampire
Clan: Ravnos
Group: 2
Capacity: 2
Discipline: ani chi
Independent: If Spleen is blocked by an older vampire, he burns 1
blood (before combat occurs, if any).

Spleen rules, if his name wasn't enough to convince you let's just
take a look at the possibility's this vampire has.
He has both the disciplines Sasha and Zip have combined at the same
cost.
He can bleed at stealth reduce stealth and when in combat can hit for
two or three damage he can also prevent damage done to him with his
chi.
This guy is capable of sending much older vampire to torpor using Trap
Apparition Carrion Crows and some Scorpion Stings.
Tool him up with a bleed Retainer or a Lap Top and he can bleed
steadily for two each turn.
His disadvantage isn't that bothersome since he can burn all his blood
paying for chi cards before combat begins and in the resulting combat
he can play Aid from Bats Carrion Crows and taste it all back.

Lázár Dobrescu [AH:V3, FN:PR]
Cardtype: Vampire
Clan: Ravnos
Group: 2
Capacity: 3
Discipline: for
Independent: Lázár may move one blood from a vampire in your prey's
uncontrolled region to a vampire in your uncontrolled region as a (D)
action.
Lazar can be a really good starting vampire because of his special.
Certainly now that WW is promoting the usage of big vampires you can
slow down an Arika deck by one turn using his special (in theory
offcourse)
All though he lacks the stealth to get his action's through he is a
very good way of tapping minion's with his three capacity he can
survive combat hands for one and he can make sure you're prey doesn't
have a minion untapped to block you're bleeds.
With his for he's not going to do very much except bleeds for one each
turn or using his special but bleeds for one are still good enough to
keep constant pressure on you're prey.

Tsigane [DS:V, FN:PR]
Cardtype: Vampire
Clan: Ravnos
Group: 2
Capacity: 3
Discipline: aus chi
Independent
Tsigane is one of two descent Ravnos three caps nothing fancy but
still a good weenie this is mostly because of the Chimestry
discipline.
She is also the smallest vampire in the game capable of minor
Nightmare Curse (aus chi version)
Her side discipline aus also gives the possibility to read you're
prey's hand very helpful if you're planning on ousting him/her that
turn.

Vedel Esbreno [FN:U2]
Cardtype: Vampire
Clan: Ravnos
Group: 2
Capacity: 3
Discipline: chi for
Independent
Vedel is the second Ravnos three cap same story as Tsigane actually
only this guy has for instead of aus this fit's him in with the bigger
Ravnos since almost every Ravnos with capacity four or above has for.

Sennuwy, The Promoter [FN:U2]
Cardtype: Vampire
Clan: Ravnos
Group: 2
Capacity: 4
Discipline: ani chi for
Independent
Sennuwy is the standard four cap vampire most of the other clans also
have. Her disadvantage would be that she has all disciplines minor
which isn't bad for a two or three cap but with chi minor you're not
going to get too much out of her cost, compared to another four cap
Salbatore Bokkengro she isn't spectacular but still useful since she
can fit into almost every Ravnos deck that uses they're in clan
disciplines.

Anka, Priestess of Thorns [FN:U2]
Cardtype: Vampire
Clan: Ravnos
Group: 2
Capacity: 4
Discipline: ani chi pro
Sabbat: Anka can enter combat with a ready Lasombra controlled by
another Methuselah as a (D) action.
And yet another Sabbat Ravnos only she can have usage of the Hungry
Coyote because of her four capacity. Almost the same rules that apply
to Sennuwy apply to her with the exception that she has pro as an out
clan discipline this could always be useful since nobody expects
Ravnos to hit for one aggravated but Anka can. Her special can come in
handy but is mostly corner case if you are playing apparition trap her
special will be very good if you're prey or predator is playing
Lasombra.

Salbatore Bokkengro [DS:V, FN:PR]
Cardtype: Vampire
Clan: Ravnos
Group: 2
Capacity: 4
Discipline: for pro CHI
Independent
Salbatore is without a doubt my favorite Ravnos weenie because of the
simple fact that he has four capacity and chi at superior this gives
him a lot of options not available to the other weenies without a
skill card.
He can play cards like Sense depp at superior and still having a blood
left to pay for stealth. He can also bleed at stealth for more than
one and have good combat defense and even some offense.

===============================================================================
Strategy of the month: Boat and Swarm.
With all the good weenies available to the Ravnos Swarm bleed decks
are a very viable option for them.
The biggest problem you will encounter is that they lack the ability
of Govern sup Enchant kindred sup and Khobar Loyalty.
This means you're deck will need a good pool gain to get all those
minions out there are several options available for that.
Usuage of several Blood Dolls you should start thinking about using
six of them and they're hunting ground.
A method this News Letter will be focusing on will be Tribute to the
Master, once you have four or five minions out this card really starts
to pay of if you're able to take down two of you're predator's minions
with Sense Dep or by combat he will have little to no change of doing
more than 5 pool damage each turn which will keep you in the clear to
put pressure on you're prey.

Card of the month:

Patshiv [FN:C2/PR2]
Cardtype: Action
Clan: Ravnos
+1 stealth action.
Each ready untapped Ravnos gains 1 blood from the blood bank.

This card is best used in combination with Tribute to the Master and
will give you a nasty pool gain each turn.
When playing weenies you should have five to six vampires out which
means you're going to tap one vampire for the Patshiv leaving four to
five minions for bleeding for two or three each turn.
The advantage this card has above other cards with the same effect is
that you only have to be Ravnos to be able to perform it and it
doesn't cost you a blood combined with Freak Drive it becomes a well
spent action.

But enough with the silly stuff one with the deck of the month
featuring weenies and Tribute Patshiv.
This deck is one that I copied from a friend of mine who off course
deserves all the credit for it, it has a nasty pool gain engine and is
capable of getting out 6 to 7 minions easily.
One of the best things this deck has is that it is very low on card
usage and besides playing two masters each turn you can get away with
playing only two or three cards each turn and still being able of
damaging you're prey for up to 8 pool.

suggestions or comments send me an email at ebos14@hotmail.com and
I'll see if I can use it in the next letter.
Next month will feature Gehenna and probably an Anarch deck using the
